Her weariness melts away when she steps inside their house and finds him with their three-year old curled in his lap. Celestine is listening in rapt attention as her father reads to her from her favorite book, Bibi and KitKat's Adventures. She walks over to them and joins them on the couch.
A tiny head looks up and gives her a sunny smile. "Mama!" She bends down and kisses the top of her daughter's head.
RJ lifts his head for his kiss. Laughing softly, Maine complies. She then leans against her husband's shoulder, smiling in contentment. She's home.
