A few minutes later, Sophia woke up and saw some strange things flying around outside. She wondered what was going on, so she went to the window and saw that the twister had picked up the house. "I must be up inside the cyclone!" she cried.

The house was spinning faster, and Sophia hopped on a sofa to be safe. The wind quickly died away and dropped the house. The house was falling to Earth very fast, and Sophia was relieved when the house landed.

Since the wind wasn't blowing anymore, Sophia decided to go to her parents' farm to see if they were alright. But when she opened the front door, she saw that everything was different—there was no tornado damage, and the grass was bright green. Nothing she saw was like everything in Nebraska.

"Oh, dear—I've a feeling I'm not in Nebraska anymore," Sophia told herself. "What is this mysterious place?" Suddenly, she saw a big pink bubble flying down toward her.

Inside this pink bubble was a beautiful woman in a pink dress—and she looked a lot like Cora.

"Now I, I know I'm not in Nebraska," Sophia told herself.

The woman walked over to Sophia and said, "Hello, my child. Tell me—are you a good witch or a bad witch?"

"Oh, I'm not a witch at all," Sophia said. "Are you a witch?"

"Yes, I am," the woman said. "I'm Maria, the Good Witch of the South."

"Good to meet you, Maria," Sophia said. "So where am I?"

"This is the Land of Oz," Maria said. "What brings you here, my dear?"

"I'm Sophia Parker, by the way—and I was just getting ready for my wedding tomorrow when a twister struck Nebraska and brought me here," Sophia explained.

"Ah, I see," Maria said. "Well, Sophia, the Munchkins summoned me because you just killed the Wicked Witch of the East. There's the house, and here you are—and that's all that's left of the Wicked Witch of the East."

Sophia looked toward her house and saw two legs sticking out from underneath, and she was horrified to see that she actually killed someone. "Oh, my goodness gracious me!" she gasped. "What have I done?"

"You have done a very good thing," Maria smiled. "The Munchkins are happy because you saved them from the Wicked Witch of the East."

"The Munchkins?" Sophia asked.

"They're the little people who live in this Land—it's Munchkin Land, and you are their national heroine, my dear," Maria told her. "It's okay; you may all come out and thank her," she told the Munchkins.

The Munchkins came out from their hiding places as Maria sang to them.

Come out, come out

Wherever you are

And meet the young lady who fell from a star

She fell from the sky

She fell very far

And Nebraska, she says, is the name of the star

MUNCHKINS: Nebraska, she says, is the name of the star

MARIA: She brings you good news

Oh, haven't you heard?
