The Lion and the Panther

The two signs walked from opposite sides of the hallways. The area was bustling with people of all sorts. It seemed everyone was in a group or with a friend. All except the painfully obvious Virgo and Capricorn. The teenagers seemed to repel from them, moving out of their path. But they weren't together. In fact, Virgo and Capricorn didn't know the other existed. They only realized it when they bumped into each other.

They looked up from their books and glared at the other.

"Watch where you're going." Virgo glared up at the tall boy.

"I'm sure you were in the wrong way." Capricorn glared back at the girl in glasses. Virgo just huffed and walked away, reading her book again. Capricorn noticed the mumbles and the people staring at him.

"The lion and the panther just talked."

"More like argued."

"I thought they were going to kill each other!" Everyone stopped whispering when they saw that Capricorn noticed them. Then they got scared as he approached a group of girls. The hallway was eerily quiet.

"Who's the lion and the panther?" He asked in a monotone voice. The girls looked around nervously, deciding if they should answer or not. Finally, they pushed one girl forward to answer his question. She audibly gulped.

"Uh-um, since you two are s-so smart, and fierce, what e-everyone did was come up with nicknames. Y-you're the lion and s-she's the panther." The girl hurried behind her friends for protection. Capricorn nodded his head and walked off.

He didn't know he was so well known. He normally didn't care for nicknames, but people thinking he was scary was something...different. Not that it mattered, so he went off to his next class,

Although Virgo was going to opposite way as him, it turned out they had the same class. She finally noticed it when she looked up from her workbook. They've been in the same class all year, but never realized it.

They actually sat by each other.

Virgo dug her face even further into workbook to hide as Capricorn walked passed her to get to his seat behind her. He calmly set down and set his work nearly on the desk and began scribbling math answers in a note book.

"So apparently you're the panther." He said while still looking at his paper. Virgo brought her face out of the book and slowly turned to face him.

"What?"

"Everyone made nicknames apparently. Just wanted to let you know." He continued to work.

"I never approved of the nickname 'panther'. It doesn't even suit me." She turned back to her own work. "Everyone must be exceptionally dull around here." She mumbled.

Capricorn raised an eyebrow at this, but didn't say anything.

Oh wait, he did.

"At least everyone doesn't have such an ego as you." Capricorn scoffed in a monotone voice, quiet and deep.

Virgo whipped around, a look of surprise on her face.

"Well at least I have a personality. Who's your soul mate, Death?" Capricorn looked up from his work at this moment.

"The only personality you have is a teenage girl at 4 o'clock in the morning without a drop of coffee!" Virgo stood up ready to make a comeback at his comment.

"I don't scare anyone when I merely just talk to them. Or smile creepily when they cower with fear! Someone~ must be a bit sadistic!"  It was Capricorn's turn to stand up angrily. Once he stood, he and Virgo rambled on at the same time, shouting childish insults and observations. Everyone in the class was staring at them.
