Jason followed the GPS on his phone to Jenny's house, His face had stopped bleeding mostly, but the pain hadn't really subsided there or in his ankle. He sighed and walked up to Jenny's doorstep, holding Nanook's leash in his hand. He wrapped on the door, waiting for Jenny. He shuffled his feet. Nanook sat next to him. He wagged his tail as always, but he kept quiet.
As Jason heard the door handle click and turn, he tried to rub the blood off of his face. He wasn't quick enough, though. Jenny opened the door and saw a limping Jason with half of his bloody face filled with glass. Her jaw dropped.
"Eheheh... hey?" Jason said, smiling sheepishly.
Jenny's eyes widened, but then narrowed.
"Jason Wolfe, what the heck happened?!? You're face has glass shards in it and it's half covered in blood! You have a limp, and your backpack looks like it is going to explode! Plus, you've got a bag on your dog's lea- WHY DO YOU EVEN HAVE YOUR DOG?!? I didn't even know you had a dog!"
Jason cringed, hunching into his shoulders. He listened to Jenny lay into him. "I uh... uh..."
Jenny glared at Jason. "Get. In the house. NOW."
Jason stood there, his eyes wide. Nanook sat next to him, quiet and seeming a bit stunned. "Okay," Jason squeaked.
Jenny dragged Jason in by his backpack, Jason muttering in pain every split second. Nanook just kept following like the not-so simple minded dog he was.
Jenny huffed and sat down in a chair. "I'm getting something to clean our face and my pa-" She was cut off in the middle of her sentence.
"No," Jason said. "Don't bring in your parents."
"Well why not?" Jenny said, putting her hands on her hips. "Also, do you want a certified doctor to get glass out of your face or a near 16 year old girl who has never studied medicine?"
Jason opened his mouth, but closed it. He took a breath and sighed. "Good point," he huffed, looking defeated.
Jenny sighed and walked away from Jason and into another room. Nanook whimpered, looking up at Jason. He leaned over to pet the white husky when he heard footsteps. He looked up and saw an older man and woman standing near Jenny. They looked a little shocked at his condition, and the fact that there was a boy in their house, but they shook it off momentarily.
"What happened to you?" the woman, Jenny's mother asked, examining him carefully.
"I... kind of got hit by a beer bottle," Jason muttered, looking down.
"You WHAT?!?" Jenny shouted, piercing Jason's ears.
Jason shrunk into his shoulders. He bit his lip and nodded a tiny bit. Jenny's father furrowed his brow.
"How did this happen?" he asked curiously.
Jason muttered something inaudible.
"What was that?" her father said.
"My dad," Jason muttered. He looked away, trying to hide his injuries.
Jenny looked shocked by this. She backed away, quiet.
"J-Jason... how long has this been going on?" she whispered.
"About 5 years... since my mom died..." Jason sighed. "He didn't take it too well..."
Jenny's parents looked speechless. It was quiet. The sound of silence plagued the room, a somber chill filling their souls, locking their tongues in place. There was nothing to say... nothing that should have been said.
