I stand by the window, cleaning the dishes when I hear a excited voice burst through the door. "I'm home, momma!!"

I turn off the water, dry my hands, and roll my sleeves down. Turning to face her, I say  "Welcome home, you two. How was your first day at the academy?"

Kanade jumps up and down happily. "It was the best! I have tons of friends! And even this one boy that I really, really like!"

Minato, on the other hand, looks away. His face is puffy and red. He'd been crying. "Kanade, can you go see if your father needs help for a moment?"

She nods and skips out of the room. I crouch down by Minato. "What's the matter, sweetie?"

I place a gentle hand on his little cheek as more tears fill his eyes. "W-Well," He sniffles. "I'm not like you, Dad, or Kanade. I didn't make any friends. I can't approach the girl that I like. A-And, I'm already being bullied." He erupts into a loud sob.

I  take a small breath and smile. "Honey, you don't have to be loud or crazy to have friends. Friends come with time. You're much more unique than your father and I." I run my fingers through his hair as he looks up at me. "And plus, being shy and timid, does not always mean that you'll always be alone. You just have to find those like you, ya know? So don't sweat it. When the time's right, everything will fall into place. Trust me."

He wipes his eyes. "You mean it?"

I kiss his forehead and smile sweetly. "Yep."

"Thanks, Mom. I feel much better now."

Naruto strides in with Kanade on his shoulder, soon after he walks in he sets her down. "Everything alright in here?"

"Everything's perfect." Minato and I share a glance.

Naruto walks over to me and holds my hip. Kanade bounces over to us, holding Minato's hand. "Hey Mom, Dad. Can Minato and I go over Aunt Sakura and Uncle Sasuke's house?"

"Well, I don't see an issue with that." I say.

"Me neither. But be careful okay?" Naruto says with a concerned look on his face. Kanade nods and drags Minato out the door.

"Kanade got both of our personalities but she resembles you the most." I nudge Naruto gently. "But, Minato on the other hand, isn't it a bit strange how he ended up being shy?"

Naruto hesitates for a second. "Not necessarily. He's just meant to be that way is all. I'm sure that great things will happen for him. And for us."

He turns my hips so that I'm facing him now. I place my hands gently on his chest and smile. "I love you, Naruto."

Naruto starts to lean in as I do the same. " I love you too, Sanako."

And then we share a tender, sweet kiss to mark the date that we begin to be an actual family.

                                         No matter what.
