"Y/N! Wait I need your help with something," yelled James from down the hall. I stopped in my tracks. I've had a crush on James ever since my 2nd year of Hogwarts, and even thought most of the time helping him got me in trouble I just couldn't say no. I know that I have no chance with him, he's been following my best friend, Lily, around like a lost puppy since 3rd year. It's 7th year now, and yet he still hasn't given up despite how many times she's said 'No'.
When he finally caught up to me he was out of breath. "I was wondering if maybe you could help me learn how to be more like a guy Lily would like," he said gasping for air. I felt a pang in my heart, but when I looked into his eyes I just couldn't say 'No'. "Yeah, I guess. You know you don't need to change James, any girl would be lucky to have you. Maybe Lily just isn't the right girl," I replied. "Meet me by the black lake during our free period, and I'll start your lessons. I need to get to Transfiguration now, or Professor Mcgonagall will have my head," I added. I then started off in the direction that I had been originally going.
*Skip A Few Months*
It was nearing Christmas, and I was still helping James. Although it was a harder task than what I originally anticipated. I was now walking Lily to the platform, she was going how for Christmas. She stopped in the middle of the pathway, and it looked like something was bothering her. "I know that I waited a long time to tell you this Y/N, but you've been so busy doing who knows what. But I feel that I need to tell you that I've started seeing someone," she said, blushing. "What? Why didn't you tell me?"I asked. "Well you've always been busy. This is the first real talk that we've had for months," she replied. "I know, and I'm sorry. Well who is it than? Who has captured the Lily Evans's heart?" I asked, smiling. "Well actually it's Severus," she replied. I wasn't exactly shocked, I could always see a spark between them. "So how is James taking it, I mean he has to know. He asks you out about 10 times a day," I asked. "Actually oddly enough James hasn't asked me out in weeks, I guess he's finally moved on and realized that I'm not interested," she replied shrugging. Before we could talk any longer, we heard the train whistle signaling that the train would be departing soon. "I need to go, I have my owl send your Christmas present," she added. She then grabbed her trunk, and ran off to get on the train. I was walking back to the castle contemplating how I was going to tell James that Lily was dating Severus. Little did I know that James had heard the whole thing.
*James P.O.V.*
"Sirius I just don't understand, I should be devastated that Lily is dating Snivellus, but I'm not," I said. "Well what I supposed to tell you, maybe your just not into her anymore. There are plenty of girls at Hogwarts. What about L/N, she's hot. I wouldn't mind Slytherin into her chamber of secrets," he replied. "Don't you talk about her like that!" I said, angrily. The thought of him even touching her made my blood boil. "Calm down Prongs. I guess we know why you weren't upset about Evans, all that time you spent with Y/N made you have feelings for her,"Sirius said, putting his hands up in defense. "Maybe your right," I replied. "Well you'll if you'll be able to get her to go out with you. I mean the reason you were spending so much time with her lately was so you could learn how to impress Evans," he said. I knew he was right, and I was going to stop at nothing to win her heart.
*Y/N P.O.V.*
*Christmas Day*
I was sitting by the fire, I had just come back from owlery. I sent Y/O/N to give Lily her gift. "Umm Y/N," I heard. I turned around to see James holding a bouquet of roses and a long jewelry box. "James I know I should've told you sooner, but Lily has a boyfriend now," I said, feeling bad for him getting her a gift. "Actually Y/N these are for you," he replied. "James you didn't have to do that," I said, getting up. He handed me the box and the bouquet. I opened the box, and inside was a necklace with a stag charm.

"Thank you," I said. "I was wondering if you would be my girlfriend?" he asked. "James, what about Lily? I know you love her," I replied. "I loved her, as in I used to. These past few months that I spent time with you, I realized that I love you. And it would make me the happiest man on earth if you would be my girlfriend," he said. "Well in that case, I'd love to be your girlfriend," I replied, giving him a kiss on the cheek.
