Hearing a car pull up to the mailbox, I got up from my bed and went to the window to see who was there.
"Mother! Mail is here!" I hollered down the stairs to my mom, Katherine Serafino.
"Thank you hunny!" She called back from the livingroom. I head movement then the front door opening and closing. I laid back on my bed and continued reading Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring waiting to hear the door open again. A minute later mom came back in the house.
"Aven!! You got mail!" She yelled up to me and I put the book back down. I went down the oak stairs and into the the kitchen where mom was. She handed me the envelope with a shaking hand and I took it slowly. I flipped it over to show the front and I nearly dropped the letter. The letter was from Striking Academy!! Nobody in this town got this letter!!!!! I quickly opened it and my smile grew as I read on. I jumped up and down when I finished reading.
"Im going to Striking Academy!!!!" I squealed loudly. Mom gave me hug and smiled.
"Good for you sweetie." She said happily.
"Anything for me mum?" My twin, Haven, asked as she came in from the kitchen.
"No hun." Mum replied. Haven sighed and looked at me sadly. I went over to her and hugged her.
"You can join me in school sissy." I said as I pulled away and she smiled. I looked at mom and smiled.
"I guess we are moving to Striking, mum." I said and she nodded. I knew why mum was shaking when she handed me the letter. It was because she knew we had to move like all the other families did when they got the letter. Mum never went to Striking Academy and she said dad didn't either. I know big brother Kevin didn't go either.
"Go pack girls. School starts in a month and we need to get to Striking soon." Haven and I went to our room and started packing quickly.
"Sis... Why did you get a letter from the Academy when the rest of our family never did? The last one to get one was great great great Aunt Sarah." Haven inquired as we finished packing our things. I paused.
"I don't know Haven. I really don't. I always wished I could go and that it would be the both of us learning the element that we have. I don't want to go there alone and you go to a normal school like everyone else does with no friends. Guess we both have to do that if they wont let you enter anyway." I replied, sadness overcoming me. Haven came over and hugged me.
"I'll be okay sis. I don't want us to go to different schools either but they chose you.. so go to that school. Not many people can control an element or two. Learn it... then come home and show us!!!"She lead me down stairs where our mother was waiting with the movers. We packed everything into the trucks and left our beautiful home to go to a new place for the first time in our lives. I hope everything works out good and that nothing go wrong.
