Chapter 1
I don't remember anything from that night. In fact, it's close to impossible.
Well, I remember police sirens, they were quiet at first but soon grew stronger and more powerful.
The only thing I could remember was the anxiety and the overwhelming sensation that conquered my body. Have you ever fallen over when you were little? And the fear taking over at that moment you realise that you can't protect yourself from the subsequent agony. And when you strike your head on the hard, cold floor. You can only apprehend a high pitched streak. And it feels like you're underwater as anything said around you is a blur and you suddenly feel imprecise and content. And then all at once, you're snatch back to the harsh world of noise and violence and reality.
It's what I experienced. Like I was underwater. Savouring my oxygen. This time my unconditionally loving mother wasn't there to aid my wounds and to rub my head all better. All that was there was a strangling pair of handcuffs and a cop reading me my rights.
Mum and dad could afford a lawyer; in fact, they could afford a hundred lawyers if they wanted to humour themselves. Mum is an Anesthesiologist and my father owned hundreds of marketing company's across Europe and the US, both wanting a son and only a son. They weren't a naturally maternal couple at the beginning, and the more and more they tried, the more and more they believed it would never happen. They met with the highest of league doctors and five-star fertility clinics but they were informed by anyone with a PHD it was impossible.
They wanted a boy so that dad could have someone to pass the family business onto. Whenever I told dad I could run the family business one day he repeated "it's not a lady's job you see? They belong in the area that they can handle."
After conceiving me they wanted to name me something special. My parents loved showing people they were wrong. They would fly around the world just to escort someone to their 'place' and having a child when told they couldn't well that was a trophy for the top shelf and to be polished twice a day.
They wanted my name to have meaning, due to the relation of both my mother and fathers names being out of the baby book. They wanted to show off what that had been 'gifted' with.
My name is Miracle and I'm a convicted murderer.

The painful silence dragged at the walls on the west wing dining area. This is going to be my last home prepared meal for the next four years. I couldn't sleep at all last night. I haven't for the past three weeks. I've been diagnosed with insomnia and depression in the last 96 hours. Mathew has been using any excuse that he can devour to claim my innocence.
Mathew is my lawyer. He has been voted most triumphant, successful lawyer in the country. If he hadn't won a case, then he was going to get a good enough sentences. Well that's want Esme reassures me.
