"Jayla, honey, it's time to get going." My mom says. "Okay, I'll be right down." I smile at her and she closes the door. I quickly got changed out of my pajamas and into denim shirt and a skater skirt. I tucked it in and put on wedges with white straps. I then put my hair in a braid on the top of my head. I put some eye makeup on and left my room with my phone in my hand.

"Your suitcase is in the car along with a box with your laptop , chargers, and some other things." My mom tells me as I walk down the stairs. My mom is very protective over me and so is my dad. Lets just say they didn't let me date until I was sixteen. Ever since then I have been dating Hunter. Hunter is very nice and very smart. He would never judge me because of what I wear or what I do. He loves to cook so I always give him feedback on his food. He is a year older than me and is already in college. He goes to NYU while I'm going to OSU. I live in Ohio, but the college is on the other side of Ohio so it will take a few hours to get there.

I call my dad on his phone because he is at work in Florida. I say goodbye and hang up. My mom is on the verge on tear when she is walking me outside and into the car. I decide to text Hunter even though he is probably on classes.

*I'm going to college, wish me luck! :)*

I don't expect him to text back, but he does.

*Good luck. ;)*

I hadn't physically seen him since Christmas. He got me a charm bracelet with three charms. Glasses because I wear glasses, a camera because I love photography, and a heart that resembles our love for one another. The charm bracelet is now filled with a bunch of other charms that mean the world to me. I remember packing this in my suitcase in a small box yesterday.

We drove for a few hours before we got to the college. There were a bunch of new students coming in with suit cases and boxes. There were some guides roaming the grounds with some students, others standing at the door waiting to greet people. I smiled. My college experience starts now. I got out of the car and opened the trunk. I grabbed the suitcase and my mom grabbed the box. "Excited?" My mom asked its a small smile. "No." I lie with a big smile. She chuckles and walks up to the doors with me.

"Hello," the guide greeted me. "Welcome to OSU! If you need a tour, just contact this number." She smiled and handed me a number. "Thank you." I return her smile. I walk inside and am stopped by another guide I suppose. "Name." The girl looks bored. "Jayla Chambers." I say and she looks through a list. She then hands me a key with a number on it. "Dorm 248 on the second floor." She points towards a hall where tons of girls are scrambling to get to their dorms. I nod and head that way with my mom trailing behind me.

I get to the elevator and go in with a few other girls with their suitcases and boxes. I smile to the girl next to me. She returns it but doesn't seem to want to make conversation. The elevator stops on the second floor some girls get out while others stay in. I make my way down the halls in search of my room.

"244, 245, 246, 247, ahh 248!" I smile and my mom finally catches up to me. "Bye honey, I really need to go." My mom frowns. The corners of my mouth fall as my mom places the box on the floor and hugs me. I hug her back. "I love you." I say. "I love you too, good luck." She mumbles and walks away.

I fumble with my key and open the door only to find a tattooed girl on her laptop. "Um, hi." I say and walk into the room, putting my suitcase on what I guess is my bed. I go back to get my box and place it next to it. "Hi! You must be Jayla!" She smile and get up to hug me. "Yeah." I hesitate to hug her, but it's only polite. "You can call me Jay." I say as we let go. "Oh sorry Jay. I'm Samantha, but I prefer Sam." She smiles. "Um.." I'm a little freaked out by her appearance, but as my mother always says; "Never judge a book by its cover, Jayla."

"It's okay, most people don't like me when they first see me." She assures me. "Oh. Maybe if we got to know each other I could judge you properly." I say and her smile widens, of that's even possible. Her smile is just so contagious and I end up smiling with her.

After about an hour, I learned that she is twenty one, works as a bartender, has a talent for drawing, and many more interesting things. I looked at the time on my alarm clock. That's another thing we did. We set up my side of the room. It was almost twelve. "Do you want to go around campus, have a tour maybe?" She suggests. "I was thinking that I can go and find my classes. So I don't have to do that on Monday." I answer. Today is Friday and the only classes that are going on aren't even real classes. They are mainly sports or clubs.

"Okay, let me just put my shoes on and we can go." She gets up and puts on her black boots. I go to the door and let her go out first. I follow her making sure to close the door.

We make small talk on our way to each class. She points out the classes as we walk by them. We have been walking around for almost three hours when she says that she is hungry. We walk to a diner near campus.

"So do you have a boyfriend?" She asks me once we are seated. "Yeah," I say. "Do you want to see a picture?" I ask. She nods quickly and I looks for a photo of me and him. "He's really cute!" She says. I smile. Hunter is like my life. We did everything together before he went off to college. "Do you have a boyfriend?" I ask her. "Yeah. He's amazing." She smiles as the waitress comes over and asks us for what drink we want. Sam orders a beer and I order a water.

"What is he like? Your boyfriend, I mean." She asks. "Um.. He is really funny, smart, creative. Oh and he loves to cook." I say and ramble on about him. The waitress brings us our drinks then asks us what we want to eat. I order a salad and she orders a burger. I ramble on and on about Hunter and our food is brought while I am talking. Sam asks me questions about him while I speak.

"Does he like any sports?" She asks while dipping her fry in ketchup and bringing it up to her lips to eat. "Yeah, he's on his college swim team, but that's all." I take a bite of my salad and sip my drink. We finish at about a quarter to seven. It was mostly filled with questions and stories about Hunter and I.

"I have work in a little bit so I'm going to get ready. There's a party at the Frat house if you wanna go. And if you are, I would where something party appropriate." She informs me. "Okay." I say, most likely not going to go to that party. I heard Fraternity parties can be bad. Just drunken people, people trying to have sex with one another, fighting. It can't be anything but bad.
