I never thought that falling in love would hurt so much. He came into my life and turned things around for the better, but he's in love with HER. I had never been jealous of anyone until now. She had stolen the heart of the one boy that had become my lifeline. We were perfect for each other. He took away all my stress and worries when he smiled. I know I wouldn't survive if she broke his heart. She doesn't deserve him! I only had to hope that he makes the right decisions and falls for me.
Christmas time was hard. Mom was away due to work and he had HER over. I wished every night that he would see how much better I am for him than HER. Each night, more tears fell and more blood was shed. Each line on my wrist got deeper and longer. I covered every scar. Ashamed of what he would think. Scars were covered by tattoos and soon even that wasn't enough. Distance between me and my career increased. I had no one to turn to. Mom was always gone and he was under her cursed spell. One night, the pain was unbearable and my life faded out. He was the one who found me, too late to save me. He red the letter I wrote to him before I died. Tears streamed down his face, realizing how much he meant to me.
It was soon time for my funeral and most of our friends came dressed in black. He wept and not a single soul could stop his grief. He distanced himself from HER and visited my tombstone every Saturday. He talked and expected no answers. He wrote songs, almost all of them about me. His depression consumed him and he quit his own band.
He was going to end his short life but I gathered enough energy to stop him. His eyes widened when he saw my ghostly figure and I kissed his precious head. His phone vibrated.
-You taught me that I am loved. Now I'm teaching you that YOU ARE LOVED!-
There had been no number that it was from and he realized it was me. That night, he called his bandmates and apologized. They let him back in the band, only if he would go see a therapist once a week. He agreed to the deal. His depression broke apart and his true happy self shined like a diamond in the sky. Months later, he met this girl, who reminded him of me. They dated and a year down the road, they got married. Every year, I would appear on that same fateful night to show him that I still care.
I watched him go through divorce and yet he stayed strong, just like I had taught him. His blue eyes girls grew taller and left home. Finally, the day came for him to join me. On the same day he nearly ended his life, he joined me in eternal bliss. We hugged and I breathed him his lovely smell that I had grown to miss. When he pulled back, his old and frail body became healthy and young again. His hands found mine and he kissed me passionately. Pulling away with tears in my eyes, we realized we could spend eternity together. His hand ran through my long half black half red hair. Our foreheads were pressed together.
"I love you, Cody Carson." His blue eyes sparkled in the sunset.
"And I love you, Ash Costello."
