My dad always told me that he'd loved my mom for years before she even spoke to him. He'd always told me he'd fallen for her because when my grandma, Claudia, died, she was the only person that could make him smile. That happened 100 years ago, I'm pretty sure.

My dad is always telling me stories about my mom, stories about how much he loved her from when they were in third grade. Mom never really seems to say anything, she almost seems guilty. I've only ever seen her mutter something about her dumb mistakes and her blind eye to dad.

Sometimes when I talk to Uncle Scott, he tells me all about how dad was obsessed with mom for 6 and a half years and then she finally decided to talk to him. Uncle Scott's stories about mom and dad seem more accurate because, let's be real, my dad is a little insane.

Uncle Scott said for the whole of freshman year dad was obsessed with mom, and I mean obsessed. Apparently she never noticed him, and even when she did, she probably thought he was a pole or some other inanimate object. I hate it when Uncle Scott tells the stories, because they're honestly too relatable. The guy I like at school, who I've liked forever, doesn't even know I exist. I just hope my story is like mom and dads, but for some reason I don't feel like it will be.

Mom and Dad's story is a hopeless love story, with chapters of their romantic games and everything they did for each other. If anyone watched their story back they would probably be internally (probably even externally) screaming about how they just need to be together.

My absolute favourite story about mom and dad is, what I like to call, Prom at the Hospital. It's honestly the most romantic story ever and it's a rare one, mom doing something for dad. In basically every romance story mom and dad tell me about themselves, dads always saving the day or being moms knight in shining armour.

It just sucks when your parents went through the exact same as you're going through, but their story ended like a fairytale and you're stuck living in reality.
