Coughing into the junction of her elbow, Katelyn heaved a heavy sigh. Her body was sore from all the coughing fits she had had to endure for the past hour and her energy was slowly draining. With a loud thump, she curled atop her bed and decided to sleep until Aphmau or Kawaii~Chan came back from work. For a while, Katelyn restlessly tossed and turned, unable to find a comfortable position. But once she did - the doorbell rang. Cursing her luck, she groaned and pulled herself up and away from the warmth and comfort of her bed.
"That better be Aphmau or Kawaii~Chan..." she seethed out, grounding her teeth together as she held tightly to the blanket around her shoulders. Opening the front door, allowing a cold gale of wind to pass through, Katelyn shivered and glared at the person who dared to interrupt what was supposed to be her nap.
"Zane?" She incredulously exclaimed, arching a fine eyebrow at him in question.
"Katelyn..." he dryly greeted, tilting his head in acknowledgment, "You've looked.... Better..."
Snorting, Katelyn rolled her eyes and snapped, "Whatever. Anyway, what do you want?"
Annoyance flashed in Zane's one visible, blue eye, but he bit back his irritation, reminding himself to be friendly and sociable for Aphmau.
"If you must know, Aphmau asked me to check on you."
"Aphmau sent you to check up on me!?" Repeated Katelyn skeptically, "Why did she send you!? Out of everyone in the neighbourhood!?"
Rolling his one eye, Zane shrugged lazily, a hint of irritation in his tone, "How should I know? Would it have been better if it had been Travis?"
The way he said Travis's name, like a taunting, teasing snake, fed the fire in Katelyn's stomach as she furiously looked up at him with narrowed eyes. Stepping inside, Zane gently pushed Katelyn back a bit, shutting the door behind him with his foot; a smirk played on his lips behind his mask, secretly enjoying getting the blue fire riled.
"Anyway, you should be resting." He pointed out, indicating to the second floor above there heads.
Katelyn glowered at him and spat out venomously, "I don't need a babysitter, Zane! Now leave!"
Narrowing his eye at her, Zane scoffed at her stubbornness and took a defying step towards her; challenging her to do something. Katelyn held her ground and snarled threateningly at him, before suddenly going into a coughing fit. Instinctively, she covered her mouth.
"Hack! Gah!"
It sounded disgusting, and Zane, ever the gentleman, patted her back helpfully and albeit begrudgingly too; he would have been fine just leaving her to cough out her lungs. Looping one of her arms over his shoulders, Zane began to direct them to the stairs as Katelyn's coughs died down. Not liking the close quarters, Katelyn viciously pulled back from his grip, snagging her retreating foot on the blanket she brought along, which ultimately caused her to fall on her butt - painfully.
"Ouch..." she sourly muttered, rubbing her bottom as she glared at Zane accusingly.
Scowling behind his mask, Zane bent down on one knee and lent a hand to Katelyn.
"If you wanna rest, you better take my hand."
Katelyn sneered at him, getting ready to say a snarky comeback but finding herself all of a sudden weak, unable to properly stand on her own two legs, she begrudgingly gave in.
"Fine. Whatever. Just don't tell anyone about this, you got it?" Hissed Katelyn maliciously, allowing Zane to loop her arm over his shoulders. Surprisingly, underneath his sweater, she felt a hard surface that was most likely muscle there. Heat instantly crept up her cheeks at the thought of Zane actually having a well maintained physique, underneath his facade of "evil".
