The door creaked open
As I lay in my bed
There were no words spoken
I must’ve misread
My overactive imagination
Fearing it not earthly bound
The normal settling of my environment
There’s nothing stirring round’
I convinced myself to dismiss it
And nestled in my bed
It suddenly slammed shut
I lifted my head
This time dangling my feet
Grounding them to the floor
Inch by inch I crept
Laying hold of the door
I worked up my nerve
Widened the crack
Only to see another door open
And a breeze at my back
To another room I walked
Across the corridor I went
When I fastened the suspicious door
Another door bent
My breathing labored
Sweating
None of this made sense
Until I saw an open window
At the end of the hall
Then I thought “bingo”
Did I leave this thing open?
Hm? I don’t recall
I breathe a sigh of ease
As I secured it tight and compact
I believed this entire ordeal over
Until I heard laughing behind my back
