It was the summer of 1959 and I was currently on an 8 hour bus trip to my aunts house in a town called Castle Rock, I haven't seen my aunt and my cousins in about 2 years so I'm really excited.
My mum is going to visit but later on during the summer,I'm so nervous but happy at the same time about the adventures to come during my summer maybe I get to meet some of Verns friends I've heard that they're very nice from all the times vern has rang home.
My mum is thinking about moving here but we're still not sure.
I was snapped out of my thoughts when the bus radio station came on telling us about a missing boy Ray Brower, I swear I've heard that name, vern must of mentioned it to me.
We pulled into the bus station and I saw Billy, vern and my Aunty standing there waving like looneys... Well besides Billy .
"FRANKIE!!!!!" Vern yelled running towards me
"Vern it's so good to see you" I said hugging him back, jeez he's changed a lot he's a lot taller now but still my same old vern. We all exchanged hugs and kisses and we're off back home, Vern couldn't stop talking my ear of about his friends Chris, Gordie and Teddy, I remember meeting them once they were nice I also remember I had the biggest crush ever on Gordie.. Ooo I wonder how Denny is, he was the best football player I've ever seen and he gives the best hugs
"Woah slow down vern aha how is Denny?" I asked he just out his head down
"Frankie, Denny died" he sniffed
"Oh-oh h-h-how?, wait is Gordie okay?" I worried
"He died in a car accident, It Hit Gordie pretty hard" he looks up
"I'm so sorry to bring it up" I shook my head
"It okay just be cautious around Gordie okay"
"Yeah vern"
"Well were home" Aunty Jenny said
"Welcome home Frankie .." Vern said
"Thanks, hey vern have you found your pennies yet?" I laughed
"It's not funny and no I haven't" he scoffed and walked inside
"I'll help you find them" I yelled
"Sincerely?" He poked his head out
"Of course" "yes" he celebrated to himself
"Vern why don't you help Frankie unpack then take her out to meet your friends" Aunty Jenny yelled
Verns P.O.V
I told the boys about Frankie coming but they didn't seem to excited to see her again, I cant recall what happened last time but I think she was a little bit of a buzz kill. Once she finished unpacking we started to walk to the treehouse..
"Vern what if they still don't like me?" Franks said worrying
"Once they take one look at you I'm sure they're going to forget why they even disliked you in the first place" I said
"Are you sure?" she asked
"Of course I am" I smiled, jeez I hope they are.
We got up to the tree and I went to knock the secret knock but Frankie stopped me
"Do you even remember it?" She sighed
"No" I looked down
"Here let me do it" she knocked
"How can you remember it?" I laughed
"Oh come on it's not that hard, you go first"
"Okay.." I walked up and whispered
"Frankies with me so be nice okay" they all just rolled their eyes and nodded
As soon as she stepped up through the door the boys looked dumb founded all their eyes wondered all over her but they were cut out of their thoughts when Franks cleared her throat
"I'm not sure whether you remember me but I'm Frankie" she waved
Teddy was the first person to chirp in as he pushed me out of the way "hey I'm Teddy, Teddy Duchamp" he said sticking out his hand "nice to meet you again teddy" she smiled.
It looks like Chris wanted to go last so she would remember him awe "I'm not sure whether you remember me but I'm Gordie" she giggled "nice to see you again Gordie" she said
Chris's P.O.V
Holy jeez I guess you can say a lot can happen in two years. As she made her way over to me all I couldn't stop looking at her beautiful greeny-grey eyes and her smile, my heart started to beat faster she stuck her hand out and said "I'm Frankie you must be-" she paused and thought for a little bit "Chris?" She remembered my name
"U-uh yeah that's me" I took her hand a shook it
"Well sorry to ruin your moment but I was thinking as Frankie's first day back we should all go get a milkshake" Vern said snapping me out of my thoughts
"Sounds good to me"
"For sure"
"Yeah sounds cool"
"Okay well let's go then" Frankie clapped
This was definitely going to be a summer I will never forget.
