Goodbye Life

Today is the second morning with Skylar. That is what Holli has named the baby. Skai is she doesn't like Skylar.  Holli has filled out the packet to adopt her. She calls Ben, and tells him she's on her way. She puts Skylar in her car seat and heads to the station. Once, she gets there she hands over the packet, and they give her $500, change. Holli says bye and thanks everyone. After about 10 minutes, she arrives at the Walmart Neighborhood Supermarket.
She slips Skylar into the seat of the basket. Holli thinks about how weird it is. She's a mom. As she walks down the aisles in the baby section, she notices all the moms. Some walk by saying "Look at the baby," to their toddlers. Others saying "Awe. How precious." Holli thanks them and says the same thing about theirs. Such different environment.
She walks down the halls, tossing formula, bottles, and pacifier into the basket. She buys a cheap crib and playpen. Never in a million years, did she think this is how she'd spend her first weekend out of high school. Holli thinks about how people from school are going to react. Are they going to think she's a "slut" or "whore"? Oh well, she has one priority in life right now, and that's Skylar. That's all she cares about. College can wait.
After she gets all the food, and entertainment stuff, she heads to the clothes. This is the moment she's been waiting for. She threw in a couple packages of newborn onesies, so many ladybug, kitten, lambs , and so many more 3 month shirts, pants, and onesies. Holli has it all planned out, $200 for the crib, $100 for clothes, $100 for bottles and entertainment, and then the leftover $100, she used on formula and baby food.
When Holli gets to her apartment she goes into her guest bedroom, and decides she would turn it into a nursery. All that was in there was a bed, an empty dresser, and a TV. She puts the TV in her room, due to the fact that she doesn't have one, and takes a picture of her dresser and bed, and puts in on eBay. Extra money for the changing table in Skylar's nursery. Holli then calls a builder to come put her crib together. She doesn't have time to put a crib together when she's taking care of a baby. Plus, she's kind of in a time crunch. Holli dials the number for a builder into her phone, and calls.
After about 3 minutes. She puts the phone down, and starts over to Skylar. When she opens the door to her room, she sees that Skylar is awake. She opens the package with the playpen, and sets it up by the TV. She then turns on Blues Clues, and heads over to the kitchen, she clears out a cabinet, to put the bottles, pacifiers, and formula in, and starts unloading the dishwasher of baby stuff. Once she's done loading everything in, she looks at the instructions of the formula.
"Let's see," Holli says to herself. "60 mL of boiling water." She gets her tea kettle and fills it with water. As soon as it starts whistling, she pours the water up to the 60 mL mark on the bottle. "Um... one unpacked level scoop, ok." Then she gets the scoop and pours it into the bottle. "Voilà, now that wasn't so hard, was it?" Then Holli goes over to Skylar, picks her up, and puts the bottle in her mouth.
At this moment, while Holli is feeding Skylar, she looks into her eyes. Her beautiful blue eyes. Skylar smiles. That's the first time Holli has seen her smile. That smile could make the most cold heartbeat man the biggest teddy bear on Earth.
"Hi. Hi sweetie, hi," says Holli in a "baby voice". "I'm your momma. You'll grow up with me. We're going to have so much fun." After Holli and Skylar share a moment, the doorbell rings. "Oh, your crib is going to be made today!" Holli walks over to the door, and opens it.
"Hi. I'm Don, and who's like little cutie?" Don asks, waving to Skylar.
"This is.. Skylar." Holli answers, picking Skylars hand up to imitate waving.
"How adorable! How old is she?" Don asks. Skylar had a DNA test done when she went to the police station, but the results haven't come back, so she doesn't exactly know how old she is. "Um, she's a week old." Holli lies
"Oh, wow. She's a newbie. You look great by the way, for just having a baby."
"She's adopted." Holli shoots back. Don stares. "Oh, um, that's great-so how about that crib?"
"Yeah, right this way." Holli says leading Don to the new nursery. "Please excuse the bed, I'm getting it out soon."
"That's no problem. So where would you like for the crib to be built at?"
"Right over here." Holli says pointing to an empty spot in the room.
"That'll do but, there's going to be a lot of bolts and nuts laying around, so it might get messy."
"Yeah, we'll stay out of your way." Holli leaves the room shutting the door behind her, and heads for the living room. "So Skylar. What are we going to do today? How about we introduce you to a couple of mommy's friends?" Saying that word still gets to Holli. In a positive matter. Holli grabs her phone and beats in a number.

"Hey, Lila!" Says Holli.
"Hey! What's up?" Lila responds
"Um, so I have someone I think you'll want to meet."
"Really? Who?"
"I'll tell you when you get here."
"O-ok. What time should I come?"
"Well, I have someone over right now... doing something, so how about an hour."
"Yeah, sure. See you then." Lila ends the call.
