I heard the door open, and then slam. Small footsteps stomped through the house. I could tell it was Kenma. Next thing I know, his small hands push my door open, a very frustrated kitten stomped straight up to me, I put my book aside, Kenma taking its spot in my arms. He sat there for a while. He was huffing and bickering under his breath. I didn't know if I should have asked him what was wrong or not.

"Kitten, what's wrong?" I stroked his hair.

"You." he mumbled.

"Me?" He pulled away from me, searching my eyes. I was trying to recall if I had done anything to upset him.

We sat in silence for a while, my legs becoming numb from the time he had been sitting on my lap.

"You didn't help me study." He said into my shoulder. I let out a small 'o' noise. I normally helped Kenma study before tests, he had never failed.

"I failed my exam." He whispered.

"Kitten... I'm sorry, I've been busy. I forgot." I ran circles over his back. He squirmed and sat between my legs, facing away from me. He began to pick at his chipping nail varnish, flecks of blue disapearing around him.

I stood up, his face showed that he wasn't too happy about the sudden change. I padded to the bathroom, opening the cabinet. I rummaged around, looking for the remover. Eventually I found the bottle, I grabbed two cotton balls and a bottle of lilac varnish before walking back to my room.

unsurprisingly he was still on my bed, picking at the colour on his nails. I sat beside him and took his hand, he didn't say anything, but let me remove the nail varnish.

"Do you like lilac?" I said, his nails now bare. he hummed, indicating that he did.

I took the small brush out of the bottle and began to paint Kenma's nails, I was basically a pro by now. He had always had trouble with painting his right hand, so often times I would just paint them both.

We sat in comfortable silence as the colour dried on his thin nails.

He fiddled around, I could see that something was bothering him.

"Kitten, hey, what's wro-"

"I'm sorry." He blurted, "for taking it out on you. I shouldn't rely on you for everything."

My eyes felt wide, I pulled him into my chest, closing my arms around his frame.

We sat in silence once again, we rocked in synch, it was comforting.

"Hey, Kenma?
"Hey, Kuroo." He mocked.

"I love you." I mumbled into his hair.
"Pardon?" I couldn't see it, but I could tell that he was smiling.
"You heard me." I poked his hip lightly.

He started to shake, at first I thought he was crying, then he began to giggle, progressing into laughter.

I frowned.

He turned around to face me, his mouth grinning.

"I love you too, Tetsurou." He began to laugh once more, I pressed my lips against his.

I could feel his smile against my lips. I didn't mind the fact that lilac nail varnish was sticking into my hair.

Idk what this even was lmao
