I grinned, at my next door neighbour, and best friend, Sam MacDonald. He shot me a thumbs up, before sprinting home. I giggled, and ran after him. We nodded to each other, before simultaneously opening our front doors, and stepping inside. Pulling on a jumper, I skipped out the back door, into the garden. I snuck throughout the loose fence panel, and waved up at Sam, who was already in his treehouse. "How do you think Miss D will take to having flour fall on her head?" He asked, laughing. "Oh I don't know Sammy. She might scream bloody murder, and come round, demanding what us 'troublesome twins' did to her." I said giggling. Sam grinned and put on the high pitched voice of Miss D. "Your twins are such pests. In my day, we'd be given the strap for such atrocious behaviour!" This resulted in another round of laughter, as we lay back on the treehouse's floor. I sat up suddenly. "Do we even look alike? We're not related..." Sam looked thoughtful for a moment before replying. "We both have green eyes, and freckles, and brown hair, although I am most definitely, NOT a girl! But I think it's more the fact that we are always together, like twins would be." I nodded sighing.
"Hey Alex? What's the best way to prank Ella? We need to figure something out..." Sam said thoughtfully. "Well, as Ella is our worst enemy, I think she deserves something special," I replied, grinning evilly. "What's going on in your head Alex?" He asked. "Hmm. Well, what if, err, she were to wake up with green hair!" I answered, cackling. Sam smirked. "And what type of dye, are you planning to use, Alex?" He said. "Oh, well, it will wash out, but not straight away. Try a 5 wash dye, perhaps." Sam grinned. "So.. Are you in?" I asked, winking. "Always" He answered laughing.
We cycled down to Rollie's, where we got all of our pranking goods from. We parked our bikes outside, and headed directly to the Hair Department. "Green, green," I muttered as I walked down the aisle, looking at all the possible colours. "Alex! It's here. I got it!" Said Sam, holding up a box of green dye. Grinning, we purchased our dye, and cycled home, to plan our attack.
"So, basically, we jump through her window, rub her hair in dye, and leave, on the whim that she won't wake up and see us?!" Sam demanded. "Yep." I replied. "Great! Best plan of action ever!" Sam replied genuinely. "Meet you in the treehouse at midnight?" I asked. "You bet! But do try to get some beauty sleep, Alex, cos you sure do need it!" He finished, running for his life. I gave chase, and caught him. I hit him on the arm. Hard. "Oww!" He moaned. "Your own fault. The cheek!!" I replied, laughing. He scowled, getting up. "See you at midnight. I'll remember my body armour" he muttered, as he walked back inside his house. I grinned, and slipped through the fence.
Later on, when it was dark, I creeped outside. Sam was already in the treehouse. "Took ya long enough" he said tiredly. I laughed softly, as we climbed over the back fence. We walked in silence for the next two blocks, before we made it to Ella's house. "Got the dye?" He asked me. "No," I replied sarcastically. He mock fainted, but we got on with it. "Second window to the right, ground floor" Sam recited, as we'd previously discovered her room's location. I nodded, and we crept silently up to the house. Ella's window was open. "Stupid idiot" I thought in my head. Sam pushed the window up a tiny bit. It made a creaking noise, which would wake up Ella. "Looks like your going in alone, Tiny" Sam said. I shoved him out of my way, and climbed nimbly through the window, like so done with years of experience of sneaking around. "Pass me the bottle." Sam silently handed me the bottle of dye. I tiptoed up to Ella's bed, and found her sleeping soundly. I opened the bottle, and squeezed the foul smelling substance onto Ella's head. I gently rubbed it in, and giggled as she continued to sleep. Luckily, with this dye, it didn't require rinsing out, as it was a joke dye, and was specially designed like that. Laughing, I climbed out the window and walked home with Sam.
The next day, at around 10 o'clock, Ella arrived with her parents. They knocked on both mine, and Sam's doors, demanding why Ella had green hair. We faked innocence and luckily, all the parents bought it. Ella scowled as she was led away, with her ugly green hair blowing in the wind. When the door had shut, my Dad pulled me to the side. "Nice one kiddo. That was the best prank I've seen in a long time." I grinned. "But leave Miss D alone, to be the weird old woman she is." He winked, as I stood, opened mouthed at being caught so easily.

At Ella's house, a bunch of girls were discussing ways to get back at Sam and Alex, or the Twins, as they were often referred to as. "What's the one thing, they cannot live without?" Demanded Ella. The whole group sat wondering, before it finally clicked. "Each other!" Ella grinned evilly, and they continued plotting.

Over the next few weeks, the "Twins" carried on pranking people, but were confused, because Ella hadn't made a move for revenge yet. They were worried though. It was very unlike Ella to go down without a fight. But this, would be the start of a war.
