The next day was a Saturday, so I slept in. When I eventually opened my eyes, I remembered what Sam had said. Instead of the red hot anger I felt yesterday, all I felt was betrayal. My best friend chose the enemy over me.

I got out of bed, and took a shower to clear my thoughts. Then I dressed in my denim shorts, and purple tank top which stated "Friends Stick Together." I sighed, and went downstairs in my bare feet, with my damp hair hanging loose.

I sat down at the table, next to Tom as usual, trying to mask my hurt.

"What happened Alex?" Tom asked worriedly, seeing through the facade immediately.

"Sam chose Ella. Said she was sorry and he believed her. He believed her" I repeated. Saying it aloud was worse, because it practically confirmed everything to be true.

Tom didn't need any more information. He got up from his chair and lifted me up into his arms.

Huh. I guess having a brother whose 5 years older than you, and is at least 8 inches taller has its perks.

Tom cradled me, as I hugged him back tightly. He stayed silent, just being there to share my pain. For that, I'm thankful.

After a while, Tom put me down, and I sat back in my chair. Instead of eating, I just stared at my food, wishing it would disappear.

"I've got to go out for a bit, okay Alex? Stay strong sis, Sam'll come around."

I nodded, as Tom grabbed his leather jacket and left.

I called Sophie, asking her to come over, with ice cream. And lots of it.

I've never been a girly girl, who sits watching movies and eating bucket loads of ice cream. But then, I guess, I never had a reason to.

Sophie was at my door, within 10 minutes. She had a bag which obviously had ice cream in it. She dumped the bag, and grabbed me into a hug. We grabbed some spoons and went upstairs to my room, to watch my favourite movies. (The Harry Potter series).

Tom's POV

"Hey Jamie, have you heard about Sam and Alex's fight?" I asked my best mate.

"Yeah. Sam says Alex screamed at him for believing their enemy, but the idiot still thinks he's right. After all that Ella chick's done to them, you think he'd know where his loyalties should lie." Replied Jamie angrily.

"It's all right, mate, I mean he's still your brother"

"Nah, I'm on Alex's side. That Ella is trouble."

I nodded my head in agreement and then asked "where is Sam?"
