A month later,

The cold air bit into my skin as I as stepped out of the diner. Suppressing a shiver, I balanced the boxes of cake in one arm and locked the diner with the other. I was tired, cold, not to mention I had school the next day but times were hard for me and my mom, and I couldn't pass up the very late and last minute order, especially when I was getting paid twice the usual for the delivery.

Noticing the old beat Chevy parked a few meters away, I made my way towards it as quickly as I could.

"Hey Oliver," I greeted the lean middle-aged man leaning against the car, casually smoking a cigarette.

"Hey kid," He replied, as he put off the cigar.

He helped me with the boxes as I got into the car,

"So where to?"He asked, getting into the car, I reached into my pocket to get the paper on which I had scribbled the address on then gave it to him.

"So does your mom know about this late night delivery business of yours?" H e shot  me a quick glance then started the car, "Does she even know that you work this late?"

I sighed deeply, leaning against the seat,

"This is a one-time thing," I replied then added hesitantly, "She thinks I am studying with Kat,"

"You know all hell will break loose when she finds out, right?" He put in, a grin playing at his lips.

"She won't," I replied with a grin of my own, "and we will make sure of that,"

"We?" He raised an eyebrow in amusement, as I laughed softly.

Oliver was the closest thing I had had to a father figure in my 17 years of existence. He helped my mom and I settle down when we moved here, and had stuck around ever since. I shifted on the seat until I found a comfortable position, my thoughts far away..

"Are you sure this is the place?" I asked for like the fourth time, staring wide-eyed at the huge gates in front of me.

"Are you going to sit here the whole night?" Oliver put in, running a hand through his hair for the umpteenth time.

"Fine," I huffed, unlocking the door, "Give me 20 minutes,"

I got the boxes from the backseat, and with a final glance at Oliver, headed for the gate. Pushing the heavy steel gates with my backside, I walked into a smoothly  tarmac ked driveway. I gasped at the beautiful lush gardens on either side of the driveway; even under the moonlight, you couldn't miss its great appeal. I hastened my steps following the course of the driveway, hoping to catch at least a glimpse of a building . My ears perked at the sound of music playing in the distance and I quickened my pace.

"Holy Cow," My eyes widened as the most beautiful fountain I had ever laid my eyes on came into view, my fingers itched to trace its intricate pattern, obviously well thought of, but I restrained myself. I gaped further, at this point I was sure my mouth was hanging open, behind the fountain was a sprawling gorgeous palatial residence that took my breath away.

"What is this place?" I mumbled to myself as I headed for the main door, my hands aching from carrying the boxes for too long. Judging from the sound of clinking glasses and laughter coming from inside the house, the party was in full swing. Taking a deep breath, I made my way through the huge doors opened ajar and froze,
