A/N: well, I hope you're liking the book so far. We're heading towards the heart of the story but we're not quite there yet, so I hope you'll stay along for the ride. Anyway, here we go with the next chapter.

I want to go to my mate, human. Why don't we? Lore shook her head. Her inner wolf, which was still new, wouldn't stop talking. She's a lot more talkative than I am normally, Lore thought.

That's a lie. You're really talkative, I would know. I'm a part of you. Lore sighed, trying to take control over her breathing again. She had been running through the woods for about an hour now, and she should probably be getting back home. Maybe even Caleb was at her house, to spend time with her. But although Lore was tired and her wolf was really annoying, she really didn't feel like going home. She had a restless feeling and she originally thought that going for a run would help clear those feelings. But it didn't. The direction of the wind changed and a sudden smell surprised Lore. Eventhough she was still getting used to her wolf body, she already knew a lot of scents, especially those from people living in the Coven. They all had a little similar scent. But this..

Lore somehow recognized something in this smell, but couldn't quite put her finger on it. Do you know..? No. It's sort of familiar, but not really. Lore moved her ears around, trying to find the source of the smell and squinted her eyes looking around carefully. A sudden move made Lore turn around quicker than ever before. Just in time to see a white wolftail speed away. The white wolf!

Ignoring Lore's surprise, Lore's inner wolf took control by running after the white dash. Lore gained control quickly after, when surprise drifted away and determination was the only thing on her mind. Determination to see the wolf up close and who she was. Lore was convinced, now knowing of the wolf world, that this wolf was human as well. She ran faster and faster, loving the snow and leaves that flew up after her and against her body because of the speed. This new body, the body of a wolf, adjusted to terrain quickly but eventhough Lore was a recently turned wolf who should've been faster because of that and having the advantage of knowing every crook and log in the way by now, the white wolf had a lot of tricks on Lore, which tired her. She's experienced.

Lore got frustrated when for the third time the white wolf seemed to go right but then trick-jumped and went left. And this time, Lore wasn't fast enough in response and crashed into a tree.

A screech of pain escaped her lips as she fell down and looked how the white wolf got away and seemed to disappear in the snow. At least we know her scent now. Lore growled. It was something but not enough. Slowly Lore rose to her feet and ran back into the direction she came from, back to her home.

Naked and dripping wet from the snow that had been in her fur, Lore ran inside and put her bathrobe around her. Strange to be on my own feet again, Lore thought. When she opened the door to the kitchen her parents and Caleb were already at the table having dinner. Mate! Lore growled a little, was that the only thing her wolf could think about? 'Where have you been? It's past seven!' Ireen looked at Lore, visibly annoyed. 'Sorry.' Lore sat down and put some stew on her plate. The white wolf was still on her mind, and Ireen wasn't too pleased with the distracted look on Lore's face. 'I heard you went to school today.' Lore ignored her mother, she was not really into this conversation. 'Did you hear me, Lore? You went to school today while we had agreed not to go for at least a few months.' Lore grunted, but barely answered. 'And then to hear that you slammed a guy up against a wall, that the only reason you went was to yell at some guy?!' Lore's eyes shot up to Caleb, who turned red in his face and neck and seemed a little uneasy. 'Tattletale!' Lore growled, anger heating in her neck. Our mate betrayed us? How could he! Lore shoved her plate away and stood up. 'We're not done talking about this, Lore.' David said while standing up just as quickly as Lore did. 'I don't care. I'm in my room if you need me, but I'm not going to talk about this.' Lore threw the chair behind her to the side and stormed up the stairs, slamming her bedroom door. She didn't really know why she was this mad, but she was fuming.

A short knock was on the door. 'Lore?' Caleb's voice. Both Lore and her inner wolf huffed. Tattletale, betrayer. Lore wasn't too fond of her so called mate at the moment. 'I'm coming in.'

Caleb appeared before he finished his sentence and sat down on the end of her bed. Lore had cuddled herself up in her blankets and squinted when Caleb looked at her. He chuckled. 'Don't chuckle! It's not funny!' Caleb tried to hide the grin he had coming. Lore couldn't help but wanting to smile at the happy sight of his face. She pulled up her blanket over her mouth, hoping he hadn't already noticed. 'Was that a smile, Lore? Did I just see a smile?' Lore sounded muffled when she answered 'No!' while still holding her blanket in front of her mouth. Like an animal, obviously wolf, Lore's wolf butted in, he crawled towards her on her bed and pulled at the blanket. 'Don't!' Lore screamed, but it was too late. He pulled the blankets so hard and fast, she fell on her back with the smile on her face showing. Lore giggled as she heard Caleb's 'Aha!' and before Lore fully noticed what she was doing she pulled herself closer to him. He froze almost immediatly, asking: 'What.. What are you doing?' Lore laughed at Caleb and let him go, falling back into her soft matress. 'Nothing. Why? Are you scared?' Caleb blushed, but shook his head with a stern face.

'You sure? Because you looked kind of scared at school today, if you ask me.' Caleb opened his mouth to say something, but closed it without a word but with a concerned look on his face. 'Something's on your mind. What is it?' Lore sat up a little, using her elbows for support. Caleb shook his head, suddenly smiling again. 'It's nothing, I just.. I was wondering if you'd like to go on a first date with me, tomorrow?' Lore couldn't help the smile that appeared and eventhough she knew something else had been on his mind, she could barely hold in her excitement. 'What are we going to do?' Caleb sat up again, an attractive smirk on his face. 'You'll have to find out.'
