My dad would always tell me "Lauryn, you have to learn to forgive but never forget."
After tonight I wanted to forget everything. He told me he loved me right before he left and never came back. We dad were unbreakable. He was my bestfriend. When him and my mother divorced I clinged to him. I was 11 at that time, now I'm 19. I'm leaving for college soon. He was just going out on a date with a close friend of his, me with my my boyfriend, Donovan, only keeping my company.
10:45 PM
I heard the screeching of tires and the crashing of cars. Everything started to move in slow motion. Donovan and I rushed out of the house, we looked for the crash and there it was, my dad's 2016 Dodge Charger crushed. My adrenaline began to rush. I pulled out my phone but I couldn't seem to dial 911. Donovan taking my phone rushed to call for me while I ran towards the two cars, people flooding out of houses. I tried to open my dads car door but it was busted shut. He looked at me, he told me he wasn't going to make it but I assured him he would. His body was crushed, the car was crunching his body together. I cracked the window and grabbed him but not to hard because I didn't want to hurt him, I couldn't do anything but tell him I love him over and over again. He repeated it back to me telling me that he was so proud of me and that I always made him proud no matter what I did. His breaths began to grow softer and softer. I hear the sirens. I kept yelling for him to hold on and I knew he was doing the most that he could. He was in a bad position. He held on though. They'd gotten him out of the car and into the ambulance, my first instinct was to get straight to the hospital so I grabbed my keys and Donovan and I rushed behind the ambulance to the hospital. I was worried about him. We finally reached the hospital...
12:00AM
He's gone. I saw him, he was in the hospital bed laying there. He looked at me and smiled a soft smile. I grabbed his hand Donovan gripping my shoulder. Tears came to my eyes. "Look at you, you're to big to be crying Lauryn." he said to me. I wiped my tears. "You have grown up to be all I've wanted you to be. You maked good grades, you work-" he coughed. "You keep up with yourself and you still manage to have fun with an old man like me. Donovan I've grown trust in you to keep my baby safe. You keep her happy." he smiled at him. "Lauryn, I've taught you well and you know better. You'll always be daddy's girl." I couldn't help like feeling he was saying goodbye. I knew he was saying goodbye. I told him how much he meant to me, poured my heart out to him and laid down next to him. My head on his chest I heard his last breaths then heard the monitor. My whole body shut down, I felt Donovan pick me up but everything was numb, he was really gone. My dad was no longer in my life..
