The bell rang, destroying the quiet that was once present in the room. I leave the classroom and make my way to my locker. I suddenly see Elise walking towards me. I try to hide myself, but it doesn't work.

"That was awesome what you said in class. Really deep." Elise smiled at me.

"Thanks." I close my locker and start to walk to my next class.

"What class do you have next?"

Could she ever leave me alone?

"Math." I reply hoping that she'll give me a break. But she keeps on talking up a storm.

Elise smile brightens even more, if it even can.

"Me too! Maybe you could-"

"Hey Sam."

I knew that voice better than anyone else. It belonged to Joyce Stewart, queen bitch. At one point of my lives we were best friends, but when I was 12 and went to my first boy-girl party, we played spin the bottle. When I went to spin, it landed on Joyce. Not wanting to chicken out and was curious of how she would taste, I went in to kiss her. But all i got was a mean glare and a slap on the face. Ever since that day, she spread rumors and bullied me.

"Hey pig, les-be honest now. See how I used your sin-worthy kind as a pun just to please you? Joyce  smiled a wicked grin . Anyways, how about you leave my presence you fucking whore."

I immediately curl up my fists, ready to punch her dead in the face, but then Elise's hand touches my shoulder. Just from that touch I swear I heard fireworks. Woah, what the fuck? I immediately begin to calm down.

"Please don't talk to her that way. You have no right to insult her because of they way she is. No one said you had to like it, but could you not be so rude about it?" Elise stares at Joyce with a hopeful look, as if that'll convince Joyce to not be as much as a bitch.

Silence drones in the halls, as if everyone heard what Elise just said, judging from the crowd around us, I'm guessing they did. Her word's hang in the air for all to absorb. Joyce just glares at Elise, obviously speechless. This is the first time she doesn't have a comeback up her sleeve. She must have been dumb struck by Elise's  words. I know I was. Everyone else who crowded around are glancing between Elise and Joyce, waiting to see what's going to happen next.

Finally, after it seemed  like hours passed by, Joyce swings her hair and walks angrily away. Claps are heard from the  group of instigators. I'm still shocked that Elise stood up for me, I mean she barely knew me. Next thing I know, it's just me and her. The crowd must have diminished, but so quickly? Before I could have a debate in my mind, Elise interrupted me.

"Let's go to class" She tucks a piece of hair behind her ear, acting as if nothing has happened.

"There's no way we're going to make it, the late bell rings in one minutes." I check the time on my phone. And I didn't have a pass either. What were we going to do?

"Just leave it to me" Elise gestures towards the empty hallway.

"Y-Yea sure." I snort and start walking to my class. Why is she being so nice to me? Maybe she heard what happened to me, and she's only pitying me. Well, I don't need her pity, or anyone else's. I am fine on my own.

"Wait up Sam,!" I walk faster, just to avoid her calls. Soon they began to be nothing but a echo.
-----------------------------------------------------

I stare at the door of  my math class, wondering how I'll be able to go in without making to much noise. Finally, I decided that a dentition couldn't be so bad. Cautiously, I open the door, only to realize that it made a loud noise, causing everyone to look to see who disturbed them.

"Pass?" Mr. Mosley extends his hand. I start to panic. Then I get the feeling, out of nowhere to check my pockets. Once I didn't find them in my shorts pocket, I start searching in my book bag.

"Mrs. Peters, I don't have all day." Mr. Mosley glances at the clock and then at me. I finally find a pass in my book bag, but how did it get there? I don't remember going to the office. With shaky hands, I give Mr. Mosley the pass. His eyebrows furrowed, and tells me to take a seat.

"Ok class your going to work with a partner on a work sheet, there should be one on your desk." Mr. Mosley drones on.

I glance around the class, getting ready to ask Mr. Mosley if I could work by myself, until I see Elise. When did she get here? I never noticed the door open after I came. I was about to go to Elise's desk to ask if she wanted to work together, only because she's the only person in the class I can kind of tolerate. Then I see her talking to another girl. A sudden wave of jealously goes through my veins. Why am I jealous? I only wanted to ask out of desperation. Suddenly, a hand touched my shoulder, making me jump.

"You're so tense." Elise mutters.

I shrug her off, not meeting her gaze."I thought you already had a partner" I say.

"She asked me, but I told her I wanted to work with you."

I attempt to hide the blush on my face while Elise laughs, and together we start to work on the work sheet.

~~~~~~~~~~~~
Finally, the final bell rings and  it's time to go home.
"Hey Sam, can I have your number?" Elise asks me.
"I wonder why, desperate much?" I muse.
Elise laughs, causing a ripple through my stomach."I just wanted to talk to you more silly." She hooks her arm with mine. Wait, when did we become buddy-buddy? I don't remember us being best friends.
I unhoook my arm with hers. "Fine, but don't do this weird kid stuff" I put my number in her phone, which is all decked out in pink and emojis. The sigh of it nearly causes me to throw up.
"Yay,!" Elise jumps in the air, acting like she just won the lottery. All I did was give her my number.
I laugh, it was so hard not too."Talk later princess" I wave at her then go to my car. After I get inside I start it up, smiling to myself and wondering; what in gods name is happening to me?
Damn you Elise.
