We got into the car and drove off towards the freeway. We were both a little shocked that we just did that, but that is in the past.
We made it to the freeway and made a mad dash out of there. Those nutcases need to go back to the nut house.
“That was exciting! When can we do it again?” Austin said happily. Is he crazy?! They could have killed us. We were just lucky we caught them by surprise. We might not get a chance like that again.
“Probably never! We could have been killed!”
“But we weren’t!”
“This time! We won’t always get that lucky! What if the next people we try it on get smart and kill us instead? We already have to deal with Adam and Derrick. I don’t want to have someone else after us trying to kill us. For all we know those people we just encountered could be after us.”
Austin turned around in his seat to make sure no one was following us. He turned back in his seat and let out a sigh of relief.
“Nobody is following us.” He told me.
“I could have told you that. I do have mirrors you know.” I laughed at him. He glared at me then stuck his tongue out at me. I ignored him and turned the radio on. ‘My Songs Know What You Did in the Dark’ by Fall Out Boy started to play and I sang along.
‘My songs know what you did in the dark’
‘So light 'em up, up, up
Light 'em up, up, up
Light 'em up, up, up
I'm on fire’
‘So light 'em up, up, up
Light 'em up, up, up
Light 'em up, up, up
I'm on fire’
‘Oh, whoa, oh, oh, whoa, oh, oh, whoa, oh, oh, whoa.
In the dark, dark’
‘Oh, whoa, oh, oh, whoa, oh, oh, whoa, oh, oh, whoa.
In the dark, dark’
‘My songs know what you did in the dark
(My songs know what you did in the dark)’
‘So light 'em up, up, up
Light 'em up, up, up
Light 'em up, up, up
I'm on fire’
‘So light 'em up, up, up
Light 'em up, up, up
Light 'em up, up, up
I'm on fire’
“You do know you have a wonderful voice when you sing? Why haven’t you thought about doing the schools talent show or the Voice?” asked Austin.
“I’m not that good! Plus if I join THEY might find us. I can’t risk losing the only think I have left. You.” I told him.
“I don’t think mom and dad would want you hiding from something you enjoy. I am sure they are staring down right now and saying, ‘Get up and live a little’. They never would have wanted you to be scared like this.” He told me.
I had tears in my eyes. For some reason I knew he was right. I just couldn’t stand the chance of ‘them’ finding us. I don’t want to lose my brother. He is the only thing I have left.
