" Once upon a time there lived a little girl who was traveling to her grandmother's house, with a bottle of wine a slice of cake. She was loved by all, especially her grandmother, who had made her a red velvet hood. She had-". I stopped as I saw this obnoxious little child look up at me as she was about to ask me why I stopped reading.
"I-I don't have time for this, I need to find a job, get money, and above all, pay this months rent! I don't have time to read to you, I don't even know who you are. Can't you read to yourself." I paused and looked at her for a moment.
"You look about 7, can't you read, or are you incapable? Just because you have a book and you want to be read to, does not mean you can waltz up to a stranger and force them to read to you! I came here to unwind after getting fired from my job... because I was stealing food!" I finished my rant towards this child and just stared at her. I could tell she didn't process anything I said but who cares, I have got to get out of here before the mother of this stinker, comes and yells at me. I walked towards the entrance of the library, maneuvering through the tall shelves of used books.
I exited the crammed library that was on the corner of the street, near my apartment, I started trudging along the sidewalk towards my apartment.
I reached in my pocket to get my keys, when of all people, she was getting out of her taxi. I saw the reflection of her, on a window to my left. I could recognize her wrinkled face and grey curly hair, as she walked up to her building to collect her past due rent. My heart dropped and I slouched my shoulders and rested my head on the peeling paint of the green door. It was my landlord.
" There he is!" She said joyfully as she slapped me on the back.
I rolled my eyes as I took my head off of the green door. I sighed as I looked at her face.
" Let's go on inside and talk about something" She said with her high pitch voice.
I took the lanyard out of my pocket, which held the key to the apartment building and unlocked the door.
She walked in, pushing me out of the way and stood with her hands on her hips.
She cleared her throat and started to speak with her high pitch, raspy voice, " I'm sorry to do this to you but I have to tell you that you have been evicted from your apartment for not paying the rent for two months."
"B-bu-but I didn't even get a notice form or anything like that!" I spoke up, trying not to raise my voice.
" Oh don't you say that to me, mister. I sent you two emails informing you of the eviction, it was a thirty day notice." She stated matter of factly.
" I sold my computer over a month ago to save up enough money to pay my overdue rent." I said in more of a hushed whisper
" I personally have to watch you exit the premises with all your personal belongings, or I will be forced to get the law involved!" she hissed at me.
I sluggishly started my ascend to my apartment on the second floor.

I opened the door of apartment #12 and walked in, taking a breath, looking at my twin sized bed on the left, a small coffee table in the middle of my apartment next to a brown arm chair. The coffee table was littered with and old mugs and newspaper. There was also a petite kitchen on the right; With a small mini fridge on the counter and a pile of paper plates were piled to the brim in the garbage can.
Finally the most majestic view thru my window of, none other than, a beautiful brick wall. Note my sarcasm.
I walked to my bed and reached under it to drag out a faded blue hikers backpack. Within a good 20 minutes, I was fully packed with all my clothes and bathroom hygiene items. There was still a mess of dishes and trash that littered the apartment but I did not care at all, ' I would let her clean it up, she couldn't complain because I was leaving'.The furniture and kitchen supplies were all the landlords, so I wouldn't have to worry about finding a storage compartment for them. Now with all my possessions packed into my backpack, I started to walk down the stairs of the old apartment building.
