the return
It hurt Odell to see this girl in tears. She looked at him be before bursting into tears once again. Odell naturally wrapped his arms around the young women to comfort her. He stayed silent as he stood in the corridor of the apartment block. Azalea cries filled the empty corridors. Odell carried her into her apartment, bridal style, so the two would have more privacy. She sobbed into Odell's then dry jacket. After a couple of minutes Azalea calmed down a little bit. Her eyes were red and puffy. Odell didn't know whether to ask her what the problem was in case she would collapse into tears again. They sat on her couch silent, neither daring to say the first word. The doorbell rang signalling the pizza had arrived. Azalea bounced up to get it but Odell stopes her. "I got it babygirl." Odell said in a very soothing voice which almost could cure Azalea. Almost. Azalea sat back down on the couch thinking about her situation. She didn't want to tell Odell as they were just hitting it off but he was going to find out sooner or later. She couldn't hide it forever. She knew if she told Odell it would break the two apart. Odell returned with a medium sized pizza box in his hand. He placed it on the small table that was in front of the couch before returning to his original spot on the couch. Azalea attacked the box of pizza as she hadn't had food all day. Odell sat there wondering when would it be the right time to ask the young women what had happened to her. Azalea sat there and looked at the confused man who sat at the other end of the couch. "Do you want any?" Azalea asked to be polite but Odell was in a trance not paying attention to the girl because his mind was completely clogged up. Azalea took a deep breath before scooting down the couch beside Odell. Odell scratched his head before wrapping his arms around Azalea.
"I know you are confused, but I just don't know what to tell you." Azalea confessed. "Tell me the truth. What happened to you? Who did this? Who hurt you?" Odell pleaded. Azalea played with her thumbs trying to avoid the questions. She took one more deep breath before staring into Odell dark orbs. "It's back." Azalea sobbed. "What's back?" She cuddled into Odell before she continued. "I never told you all about me. When I was eleven I was diagnosed with Leukaemia, cancer of the blood. I fought it. It was tough but I did it. Doctors told me I'd be fine, that it wouldn't return." She whimpered. "But this morning I wasn't feeling to well. I was getting sick, I thought it was just a bad hangover but when I was in work I coughed up blood. I went straight to the doctor an– and" A tear escaped her eye "they told me it is back. But it has spread to my liver." Odell eyes widened. He was lost for words. He wanted to scream and punch a wall but at the same time he just wanted to be there for Azalea.
This wonderful girl did not deserve any of this. She wouldn't harm a soul, so why her? A tear had escaped his eye. Azalea sat there in silence, letting him process the information she had just told him. "I'm so sorry babygirl. But I'll be there every step of the way. I'll get the best doctors and I'll make sure you are in the best hands so they can help you get rid of the cancer. You'll be fine." Odell said trying to help but it was no use. "Odell you don't—" "No I need to–" "Odell listen to–" "You'll be in the best care and I'll cover everything no matter the cost don't you worry–" "Odell" Azalea said sternly which stopped Odell from ranting on. "It's no use." Odell scrunched his eyebrows together wondering what the hell she was on about. "It's stage four cancer." Odell's heart broke into a million pieces once he heard the words 'stage four'.
"I've only have six weeks left."
