I've experienced some problems lately and weren't able to hang out in awhile.
I managed to get things working on so I can spend time with her.
But it is only temporary and I don't know how long will it last....
Fuko : Hey, Yuuki ! Sorry. Did I keep you waiting ?
Me : Yeah. For about half an hour.
Fuko : A guy's supposed to say 'not at all' here, you know ?
Me : I didn't know that. I wasn't notified about this change in society.
Fuko : They didn't bother because they know you're not going to follow it anyway.
Me : Damn right!
Fuko : So where do you wanna go ?
Me : Let's just chill here for a bit.
Fuko : You're too lazy to walk, aren't you ?
Me : You can carry me if you want. That's cool too.
Fuko : Hell no. It's pretty fine here. Let's enjoy the park.
Me : You're too lazy to carry me, aren't you ?
Fuko : I guess that's one thing we got in common.
Me : Here's a good spot to sit.
Fuko : I'm suprised it's a bit chilly despite the sun being directly on top of us.
Me : Yeah, nice weather indeed.
Fuko : It's so nice outside and you still like to stay indoors the whole day.
Me : Well you know , outdoors is nice but indoors in nicer.
She giggles.Fuko : So, how have you been?
Me : Same old, same me.
Fuko : I bet you still only eat instant food, don't you ?
Me : More or less.
Fuko : Come on, Yuuki. What nutrition can adding hot water give you ?
Me : It's fine. You're learning how to cook for me anyway.
Fuko : Sure. I'll serve you my specialty dish.
Me : Burnt rice balls ?
Fuko : Yes. Everyday.
Me : You'll kill me.
We haven't seen each other in so long that I have lot of things to share and ask.
And I don't even know where to start.
Me : Are you still living in that torn down apartment ?
Fuko : Yeah. But it's a bit better now that they've renovated a few things. I think my greatest worry is about that place is the people, though. Most of them are old people. They should be move to a safer places especially if they're living alone.
One good thing about Fuko is that she can be talkative. It saves me the trouble of trying to keep the conversation alive. I just ask a question and she'll manage to talk for hours about it.
Me : So... How about work ? how's it been ?
Fuko : Total mess! And probably will continue to be. Our boss gives us impossible tasks and most of us are pretty much fed up with it. A lot have quit already due to that and the rest are demotivated. Then there's Tony, my co-worker, who would slack off until the last minute. He's such a troublesome guy. Makes things harder for us. Sometimes, he would even ask our other co-workers to do his part.
I listen to her while noticing how much her expression changed since mentioning that Tony guy.
Fuko : There's this one time we got the processes all mixed up so bad because of him. Our boss was furious that time. Then Tony.....
She paused mid-sentences and stared at me.
Me : What ?
Fuko : Oh ? I see.
Me : What is it ?
Fuko : You're jealous, aren't you ? It's all written over you face.
Me : Huh ? what are you talking about ? Anyway, so what did this Tony guy do?
Fuko : See? the tone of your voice gives it away!
Me : Just leave me alone already.
Fuko : C'mon admit it.
I stared at her and wait for her to finish laughing.
Me : Just what happened to the job offer you got from the other company ?
Fuko : Oh that. I turned it down. I need to be relocated for that job. I don't really want a new settlement and lifestyle for just a bit of increase in income. It's not worth it.
Me : That's fine. I bet you'll get another job soon. Maybe even closer here. Who knows ?
Fuko : D'aww. You miss me that much already?
She really enjoys making me admit embarassing things.
Me : Yes. So I can eat your burnt rice balls already.
We continue talking and laughing about random things and totally lost track of time. After awhile, the conversation slows down and she stands up.
Fuko : One sec..
Me : Where are you going ?
Fuko : I'll just get us something to eat.
Before I knew, it's already noon. Time really flies when i'm with her.
Fuko : Bought us takoyaki! I also saw a mochi stand on my way back so I bought some. You like these, don't you ?
Me : That's great! Thanks. How much I owe you ?
Fuko : It's not much. Don't worry about it. But if you insist, then I guess you owe me a favor.
Me : Okay ? What favor ?
Fuko : I haven't thought of it yet. I'll save it for later.
Me : Okay. As long as it's something I can do.
Fuko : Don't worry. It won't be THAT bad.
She winks at me as she eats takoyaki.
Me : Now I'm just worrying about it.
Fuko : I won't ask for something you can't do, you know.
Me : That's a lie right there.
Fuko : Okay. Maybe a bit. But not much.
Me : I don't trust you.
She laughs as she eats the last piece.
Fuko : Well, now we're done eating. Let's head to the mall.
She grabs my hand and starts walking towards the mall.
