A/N- Hello everyone, I decided to change Zoe's name to Quinn since I'm already using the name in Moon's Call. Don't wanna get things mixed up. And do not be surprised or confused when you see "Zack" or "Zack", I tend to use both interchangbly without knowing it. Thanks.
Everyone within close range turned towards the pool and the others in the pool swam away to the edge and out of it in fright as she sank. Aliyah watched, she continued sinking as the water rushed into her lungs blocking out the air flow. She wanted to cry out for help to everyone who had gathered around the pool and scream to them that she couldn't swim but she felt helpless. When she tried to open her mouth, only bubbles came rushing out and more water rushed into her mouth and perhaps through every opening in her body. She should have listened to her mother, now she was going to drown to her death without even seeing the boy she had snuck out to see.
"Are you sure about this?" Annette, Quinn's friend asked in worry.
Quinn glanced at the stop watch on her phone then folded her arms with a smirk to watch Aliyah. "She's faking it...but no matter how good she's, she can't keep this up...she would eventually have to come up for some air."
Annette leaned closer to her friend and whispered. "Quinn, it doesn't look so to me."
Quinn shot her a displeased look over her shoulder and continued smirking at Aliyah. She glanced at most of the people who had gathered around to watch. She knew no one interfered in her matter because they feared and respected her. Most of them looked worried as Aliyah continued to struggle to remain afloat on the surface to no avail.
She smiled sweetly and said aloud to everyone present. "No need to panic, everyone..." She raised her phone so everyone could see the running timer and giggled. "Is just a little game we are playing. Our friend, here..." She gestured at the pool. "Claims she can breathe for long under water and we are only making her prove that to us..." She smiled in triumph when the others laughed, they were nervous but they laughed anyway and that was good enough for Quinn. No one would interfere.Quinn stared at the pool again and realized that Aliyah had stopped struggling and was fast sinking now. Annette held Quinn's hand and whispered, now harried. "Quinn, I don't think she's faking it, she's dying, let someone get in the pool and get her out now!"
Quinn glared at her now and huffed. "Could you just shut up for one minute?! If you are so concerned about her, why don't you get into the pool and get her out yourself?"
"But I'm not a good swimmer either!" Annette griped.
"Then that seals Aliyah's fate!" She muttered and turned to watch Aliyah again. "It will be nice to post this on Facebook, you know..." She thoughtfully tapped a finger on her chin. "It will go this way, uninvited Black girl drowns in a party...it has a nice ring to it, doesn't it?"
A guy who was walking towards the stairs stopped when he noticed the crowd around the pool. He waited for a while. He knew swimming competition or playing beach balls were always done at parties in the pool but this particular crowd were not cheering. There was tension in the air around them and they looked nervous. This got him wondering what they were nervous about. He approached them and made his way through the tight crowd towards the pool. Those who turned just in time to see him quickly shifted out of his way and soon, he was standing almost beside Quinn. "What's going on here?" He asked Quinn, not noticing Aliyah in the water.
His voice alerted her of his presence and she instantly turned to face him with one of her killer smiles. "Zack!" She called mirthfully with a glowing smile and her glossy sensual lips curved in a seductive way only she knew how to do best. "Happy birthday, honey."
