Words don't mean a thing unless they are arranged perfectly
Martin Luther Kings speech would have meant nothing if the words were not put together so eloquently and so right
Because at the time they were what needed to be said in the order they needed to be said in
There is a difference between the words
Don't let me go and don't let me go
Do you want to know the difference?
The difference is occasion
Imagine a man so hopelessly in love with a woman and he is on bended knee begging that she hold onto the relationship he so covets...
He's crying and tears are streaming and life is hard and he is in love and he feels alone and all he wants to hear are a few words...
So he says all that he can say to this woman who has the power to break him with a few simple words...
Don't let me go
He says this and he waits for the words that will fix him or destroy him
Now imagine this same couple and they are enjoying a lovely walk on a path much too close to the edge of a mountain and she's careless and she falls off a cliff and all that is stopping her from falling to her untimely demise is his sweaty palms...
They grasp her and tears are now streaming down her face
I want you to feel the emotion she has
The fear coming through her and the regrets she is having as she stares into her lovers eyes and says
Don't let me go...
Simple words in not so simple occasions
Same people
Same love
Same time
What is the difference?
Location, situation, and reflection
Words mean everything to us humans and we get them wrong every single day
We tumble over our words and we cry because of what people say
We as humans can't fathom occasion until it is blunt or already behind us...
So next time you form a sentence take a moment and think of your occasion and think of the situation
Because one day inevitably you were realize exactly what those words were
Meaningful and powerful.
