I'm cleaning the kitchen to waste time in wait for my daughter. She hasn't come home and it's almost about to be 11:30 p.m. Most of the time me and her have a good time and try to spend our day doing random things that interest her. Most of those times we spend them at home seeing movies and ordering food. Ever since her father left she hasn't acted the same. I understand her, it her father, she needs a person that plays the role of her dad. Sometimes I try to do that role and I know she sees me try. I'm washing the dishes and still she's not home. I was getting more worried as the time went by. Finally, it got to 11:50 and I hear the rattle of her keys and can see the doorknob moving.

"Where were you? Why didn't you answer my phone calls, and why are you coming this late." I said.

"I was at a friends house mom, my phone was off and like come on, I'm almost going to be 18," Ashley said.

"I told you before that as long as you live under my roof that you are expected to come before the clock strikes ten, understand?" I said.

" I'm almost 18, you can't keep doing this to me. I have a life also and I want to enjoy it and by the way, it's not like I'm doing bad things outside. I'm just with my friends." Ashley said.

"Who do you think you're talking to! I'm your mother and you have to obey me. I don't do this for nothing, I do it for your own good." I said.

"Well stay out of it, I don't want you helping me." Ashley said.

She left fast to her room and I was quit. It really hurt me that she told me that. I only want what's best for her. Without another word I also went to my room and got ready for bed. I was still down but I knew sooner or later things would go back to they way that they were. I woke up next morning and got ready for work. Before I left I Ashley's room to check up on her. I was going to let her sleep in peace but instead I just told her that she had to be home today. She didn't ask why she didn't say a word but I know she heard me. As I went to work there were a lot of people on the streets. Like I mean I wouldn't be surprised because it was Manhattan. Finally, I got into the buildings and went into my office to start my day off by working. Lots of people came in and out as the day went on. All I wanted was for this Tuesday to be over to go back to my girl.

As the day was going I was thinking of what to do with my daughter when I got home. Maybe go out to eat, but then again she might not want to or I think that I'm just ordered food and rent movies to watch at home. All of a sudden I heard a big clash between something and felt the floor shake. It knocked over my paperwork on the floor. I thought for a second and told myself that it was just an earthquake. This was until I looked at the window and saw smoke. Then lights went off and they only light was they one from the sun. I left my office to ask others if they knew what was going on but none of them could tell me anything because they also had no clue.

A security guard told us that we were supposed to remain in our offices until further instructions. I went into my office, no questions asked, and I looked out the window and saw debris falling from the side of the building that was on fire. As I looked up I saw a plain come close. I thought it was going somewhere else until it struck with force on the other tower. That's when I heard screaming from the other rooms. I didn't know how to react to this. I felt like I couldn't move. I stared down the window of my office once again and saw that people were jumping off of the building. Some were already on fire and I could feel the heat of it because the floor that I was on was also catching on fire. I didn't know what to do or say. I suddenly hear screaming. As I turn around I see a bright light through the black smoke that is in the air. I go up close to see what it is. I see my co-workers run to their offices and some stumbling on the floor trying to themselves put out of the fire. The walls began to get on fire and at the same time, I hear windows shader on the same floor. At this time, i snapped out of whatever I was doing and only thought about my daughter. I rushed to the telephone to my office and dialed. As I was waiting for her to answer I felt another big shake and saw that the fire was increasing.

" Hello," Ashley said.

"Baby, I love you so much. You hear me?" I said in a panicked voice.

"Mom, what's going on, why are you crying?" Ashley said.

"I'm so sorry Ashley, I just wanted the best for you and for you to do better," I said.

" Okay, mom you're starting to scare me. Now, what is going on? Is this about yesterday? If it is then in the one that's sorry, I know that I shouldn't have said that." Ashley said.

I told her what was going on and every time I looked at my door the fire got closer and closer and the heat of the fire was making my skin sting with a hot feeling.

"Mom, stay where you are, I'm getting help," Ashley said.

By this time, I only had two options. Either stay and burn or join the rest and jump off. I grabbed the chair and throw it at the window making it shatter and then picked up the phone again.

"Baby I love you so much, please don't ever forget that, okay," I said.

"Mo..!" I heard her Ashley say as I felt the edge of the window and pushed off with one foot.

At this point there was no turning back, this was it. As I was falling I felt the wind brush my hair back and all I could do was clench my fist and close my eyes. I thought to myself that this was better than feeling the hot fire burn through my skin, it would have been more painful. Then I remembered every single time I made my sweet Ashley smile. All those good things that we had and then I saw her eyes in my mind, light green eyes, almost like the eyes of a cat. I felt tears coming out of my eyes as the three and a half words came out.

"I love you Ash.."
