"He's pretty mad that you left, Rae," my best friend, America --- I know, her parents gave her a unique name, says over the phone. "No, he's not mad... He's upset."
My parents didn't like the fact that my mate was our Alpha, the cruelest man alive. They thought that if I got him mad, he'd kill me; or he'd sleep with other women when I wasn't around. But they didn't say anything about him to me, they did however discuss how much they hated the fact with my brothers. Complaint after complaint made me fear him even more. But he broke my wall and I broke his too; and after a few weeks, we fell in love with each other and we looked like real Alpha and Luna mates. Which my parents absolutely hated.
Then my parents made up this accuse that they had to leave because family in another, far away Pack needed us. My brothers --- Adrian, Darren and Josh ---- and I were forced to go, leaving our friends and mates behind. Neither of us had seen the ones we left behind, which was a month ago, in a month. Josh had a pregnant mate and Adrian had a daughter, he had to leave his daughter... Which is why we hate our parents now. We want to go back, but every time we try, we get caught.
"He's mean too. He's even worse than before," she says. America is Jayden's younger sister. Jayden, my mate, is twenty two, while she's eighteen like I am. Adrian is twenty five, Josh is twenty and Darren is eighteen too, he's my twin brother. "You make him better, Rae, everyone agrees with me."
I sigh. "He makes me a better person too. But what can I do? We've tried to escape so many times and we've been caught so many times."
"Ummm... How's Darren?" she asks, clearly wanting to know about him because I haven't talked much about him and he hardly calls her. Darren and America are mates and the only time they talk is when she calls him. Josh calls his mate almost every day and Adrian calls his wife and daughter every single day. But I can't seem to find myself to call Jayden, since he hasn't called I know that he feels the same way.
"He's as happy as the rest of us," I state, sarcastically. And as if just on cue, Darren walks into my bedroom and gives me a look. "It's America, do you want to talk to her?"
He nods. I hand him the phone and as he says 'hello' he walks out of my bedroom with my phone pressed against his ear. There's no way I'm getting my phone back for at least a couple of hours --- but at least he's smiling again.
I just wish that Jayden had the nerve to call me since I don't.
'Maybe he's busy, he is an Alpha,' my wolf insists.
Or maybe he's sleeping with a different mateless woman every night, just like my parents had said he would, and he feels too guilty to call me.
And to interrupt my thoughts, my evil mother walks into my bedroom and sits on the edge of my bed that I'm lying on. "Hey Raelyn." I give her a nod and she glares at me. "Don't give me that attitude, Raelyn Smith."
Wow, she called me by my last name too. She must be in a bad mood.
"What is it, mom?" I ask, being fake nice.
She smiles at me. "Your father and I know that you and your brothers miss your mates and friends and you've been good about it. That's why we're giving you each a half an hour with them in the forest with us and others as supervision."
A huge smiles appears on my face as I get up and tackle her on to my bed with a hug. "Thank you! Thank you! Thanl you!"
"I'm glad to see you so happy again," she says, smiling and chuckling. "By the way, it's tonight; seven to seven thirty."
My mom leaves the room and I accidentally squeal. Yeah, I'm really happy. I know that I may sound clingy, but can you blame me? I haven't seen them in a month and they're practically family.
