There was always something about Scarlett Jo'Anne that just drove me wild. Ever since we were kids, Just little toddlers running around playing tag in the backyard. Our mothers who would sit on the porch watching us, they'd just laugh.
All the boys at school would pick on me because a girl was my best friend. I would never be with them, I'd always be with Scarlett.

And that's how it always was. Up until my Senior year in highschool.

Walking through the doors to Cheyenne High, standing high and proud as I made my way through the hallways, I couldn't help but to feel somewhat sentimental. This was my last year.
Hell, I even remember my first day of Kindergarten with Scarlett. Speaking of her, she was nowhere in sight.

I looked through the hallways. My best bro Caden came up to me and gave me a firm slap on the back and a smile.
"Ready for senior year, man?", he walked beside me, my eyes still roaming the halls for Scarlett.

"As ready as I'll ever be, dude.", I replied. He gave me a fist bump and left, as he was obviously attracted to the hoes and thots with their boobs hung out and shorts cut high.

That was the thing with Caden, he was the manwhore. Which I have to give it to him, with those killer looks and cut body, he could probably get whoever he wanted. Except for Scarlett, we've already watched that fail.

By the lockers stood two of her girlfriends; Mollie and Cassie.

"You guys seen Scarlett anywhere?", I asked as I scratched the back of my head and looked around. I seen the both of them look to eachother and then back at me, shrugging their shoulders. I sighed and gave them a nod before turning back and looking away.
That's odd. She couldn't have skipped, not on the first day. Normally she would be the first person to greet me at the doors. I pulled out my phone, my message app had a red '1' in the corner, notifying me that I had received one message.
I opened it, and then realized it was my deadbeat of a mom.

"have a good first day sweetie :) xx"

Which as I scrolled up our messages, they all consisted of texts from her, all of them that I've never replied to, yet she never fails to try.
I vowed two years ago that I would never speak to her again, after she cheated on my dad and left us all alone in this shithole town in Michigan.

I was super disappointed that the text wasn't from Scarlett, as I sent her a morning message this morning that she didn't even see. Maybe she fell asleep?
As turned off my phone, a heavy weight literally fell onto my shoulders and back. It startled me and caused me to almost fall, before I caught whoever was on my back by their legs which were wrapped around my waist.

"Adam!!", the sweetest voice squeaked, I instantly recognized the voice to belong to none other than Scarlett Jo'Anne.

I chuckled, a smile instantly brought to my face as I held onto her, she hanging onto me for dear life. I spun her as she was on my back, she giggled and squealed like a child. That's what I always loved about her, her laugh. It never changed. The most beautiful laugh that I've heard, you can listen to it all day if you wanted.

I then let her off of my back, we had already made a huge scene. She appeared in my sight and I instantly pulled her into a massive hug.

"God, I thought you weren't coming!", I said into her shoulder. She laughed and rubbed my back.

"Haha, kind of slept in?", she giggled nervously. "But seriously, I wouldn't have left you. Especially on the first day, I know that I'm all you have.", she joked as we pulled away, giving me an ironic wink. I laughed at her cockiness.
"I mean, you're not wrong.", I laughed. She returned a smile, "I know."

"So,", she paused and took a look around the hallways. "Shall we see what classes we have?", she added in her ironically horrible British accent, leaning her arm to me. I, with my. Ironically horrible British accent, replied, "Yes, indeed we shall."

And with that, we linked arms and skipped joyfully to the bulletin board where the schedules and classes hung.
"Excuse me, pardon me, sorry sir," was all we jokingly said as we pushed through the crowd of people surrounding the board until we finally reached the front. Scarlett headed in front of me, scanning the board thoughly. For a moment, the whole room seemed silent, at least for me. We always had at least one class together our whole years of schooling. I seen her pause, staring at one point at the board. She turned around and walked back to me gloomily, her head down.
And right then, I thought that this year was the year we had both dreaded. The year in which we didn't have any classes. God, how will we survive?!

She finally made her way to me. "So... Anything...?", I didn't even have to ask, I could already tell what the answer would be just by the expression on her face. She turned back up to me, her eyes sad and face long. But then, she unexpectedly jumped up to me and squealed,

"WE GOT FOUR PERIODS TOGETHER!!"

My eyes widened as a smile instantly grew on my lips. She threw herself into my arms and I held her tightly as we both laughed and giggled like children. We obviously brought so much attention to ourselves, but we didn't care.
All we cared about was that we could survive this year, our last year of highschool.
