Chapter 3:

"Katniss, the train leaves in an hour! Get your bags down here and into the car!" Mother shouts from the kitchen.

"Fine. Fine!"

"And then help Primrose carry her's down as well." Mother never called Prim by anything but her full name.

It was her favorite flower- Evening Primrose. As Katniss root was Father's favorite.

"Prim are you ready?" I say poking my head into her room.

I pause when I see her poised on her bed, looking right at me. And empty suitcase lying open on the floor.

"Is it true, Katniss?" She squeaks.

I sigh and sit down next to her on the sheets.

"Not anymore. Believe me." She looks down, or anywhere but at me.

"Then what was that yesterday in school?"

"I told Jace I didn't want to see him again." I explain. "I guess he wasn't okay with that."

"What's going to happen now?" She says warily.

"I honestly don't know. But if things go as planned, I'll end up with who I really want to be with."

"And who's that?" She asks. "Gale?"

I take a deep breath. "No, Prim." She looks confused. "Not Gale."

"Are you okay?" Peeta sits opposite me in a plush chair.

My bed holds me up and the train moves down the tracks at top speed.

"I don't know." I bite at him and his eyes widen. "Sorry..."

"It's okay. I was just wondering." He smirks a little bit.

After a silent minute or two, I ask "Are your brothers awake?"

It was 1am and neither of us could find it in ourselves to sleep. He shakes his head.

Normally this is when we would wrap ourselves in each other and hope it goes away, but the train puts us too close to our families for that to happen.

Okay, maybe just one.

I stand right in front of him and his hands find my waist.

He pulls me down to him slowly and kisses me once.

His eyes search mine for something and a push a lock of blonde hair away from his forehead and out of his eyes.

"Katniss, what does this mean?"

I don't want to answer him.

I kiss him back and he just smiles.

"You don't know how long I've waited for that." He laughs a little bit.

"Can we just...sit?" I ask weakly. He smiles and we melt into our normal stature of him cozying aorund me and me cowering into him.

By morning, we wake up the way we've woken up countless times before.

We push the covers aside and I go into my bathroom allowing Peeta to make his usual escape.

Every time he ends up in my bed he sneaks back to his own house before anyone notices.

When I get to the Breakfast car my mother's eyes are on me immediatley.

As I look around, I notice that Mr. Mellarks are as well.
