"GET AWAY FROM ME!" I screamed to no one. Only I could see her. She was everywhere and nowhere. She laughed an evil chuckle and enclosed me again. I fell to the ground and grabbed my head, squeezing it. I screamed. The pain was horrible. But it wasn't physical pain. It was mental pain. I screeched and all the walls around me shattered.
I shot up from my bed and was breathing heavily. Then it hit me, literally. Burashi consumed my body and soon I was rocking back and forth with my hands around my knees. I can't take this. I took contol of my body long enough to grab the knife I hid under my bed. I quickly slashed it across my wrist over and over again. Finally I dropped the bloody knife to the ground. I watched as the blood gushed out of my arm. And I felt myself come back in control. And I felt the pain. The horrible pain. Soon, it was time to get up for school.
"YASHIMA!" Ukedaro rushed into my room. I looked up at him slowly, blood splattered on my face and arms. He quickly bandaged it and sighed in relief. "Was it that bad?" He asked solemnly. I nodded and broke into tears.
Soon after I stopped crying, Ukedaro left. I got dressed and made sure to cover the bandages....
"Hey, Yashima! How was your morning?" Tin asked as he approached my locker.
"Living hell," I answered bluntly. He frowned.
"Oh. Hey, why didn't you answer my dad's question?" He asked.
"What question?" I looked up at him.
"What about your parents?" he looked curious.
"They're dead!" I slammed my locker shut and walked away from him. I avoided him all first period and second period was crap. I was not having a good day. I had a freaking horrible headache and my arm hurt. I didn't eat lunch and I mostly stayed away from people. At the end of school, I put my books away and closed my locker to see Tin. I brushed past him, but he grabbed my arm. The cut one.
"Yashima, why is your arm so warm?" He asked as he turned me around. He pushed my sleeve up my arm and saw the blood under the bandage. He slowly unwrapped them and saw the deep gash.
"Why?" He asked with sorrow in his eyes. I shook my arm free from him and turned away. I re-wrapped my arm and when I looked up, Drake was there. He was blonde and tall, and pretty muscular.
"Hi"
"Hey..." I looked down.
"What's wrong? You seem upset..." he asked.
"N-nothing...I need to go now.." I left him there and caught up with Ukedaro.
The car ride was horrible. I didn't want to go back home. The blood was still everywhere...
"Can we go somewhere else? Please?" I asked Ukedaro.
"Sure. Let's get some hot chocolate. You look a little pale..." He pulled into the cafe right next to our house.
"Thanks" I smiled as I sipped my hot chocolate. Suddenly my phone rang.
"Hello?" I picked it up. It was Hidaya!
"Hey Yash~!" That was her nickname for me. I laughed. "Wanna go to the mall?" My face lit up.
"Sure!"
"See yah there, just come on asap!" She hung up.
"Hey, will you take me to the mall?" I asked my brother. He nodded. I smiled and went back to the car, Ukedaro following me.
"OMG THOSE EARRINGS ARE SO CUTE!" Hidaya yelled as she grabbed the pair. I laughed when suddenly someone was hugging me. It was Lulu, a girl who was about 3 years older than me. She had purple hair pulled into sidebuns and she was about 5'2.
"Hey Lulu!" I hugged her back. She backed up and smiled.
"Hey Yashima, how are you?" She asked.
"Um....well tomorrow....." I looked down. She covered her mouth and whispered:
"Omigosh I'm so sorry!"
"It's okay..." I turned my attention to the motorcycle outside the store. It looked familiar....
"Hey guys~!" Shanzi came up from behind us. That's what it is! That's her motorcycle!
"Hey!" I smiled. She had her hair died at the ends, and it was up in a pony. It was kind of like my own blonde hair. My hair was parted on the side with bangs covering my left eye, and the bangs were black at the tips.
"Hey guys!" Antisami ran up. I waved.
"Let's go!" Hidaya was already looking at scarves. She needed a knew one. The one she had was worn, because she barely ever took it off. Yah see, she has a tattoo around her neck...it's pretty cool. I laughed to myself and we proceeded to the next store.
"Hey guys, What do you think of this?" I asked them when I showed them the bracelet.
"I like it~" Shanzi told me. I smiled.
"Thanks!" I bought it. We walked out of the store and I got light-headed. I began to sway and the next thing I knew I was sitting in the lounge chair in an open space in the mall.
"You okay?" Tory, who had recently arrived, asked me. I looked up at her pale blue hair and nodded.
I was shaking the entire way home. It wasn't from fainting, because after that we stayed at the mall for a couple hours. I was shaking because I knew what was coming. Tomorrow would be the 5 year anniversary of the accident. When we arrived home, it was about 9:30 and I didn't have homework so I went to bed.
DONG. DONG. DONG. DONG. DONG. DONG. DONG. DONG. DONG. DONG. DONG. DONG. It was midnight. I jerked up and began to sweat. I was waiting. I screamed and grabbed my head. We were driving home. I heard that scream that had repeated so many times in my head: that of my mother. I was literally re-living every single second of that dreaded night. My leg burned and I screeched. It was real pain, real fear, everything was the same!
"Why didn't you save me? Why did you let me die? I thought we were friends!" I heard Burashi say.
"I-I didn't mean too!" I yelled. I was now sobbing. I screamed again as I heard my mother again. I felt the burn on my leg. I saw Burashi's body....mangled and twisted. Deformed. I screamed again as I felt a sharp pain in my back. Burashi had scratched it. I couldn't breathe, it felt like. Someone was choking me.
"I-I wanted to save you! I really did!" I pleaded and begged. She grabbed my arm, the one I had cut.
"Why did you do this?" She asked. She was pissed.
"TO GET AWAY FROM YOU!" I yelled. She squeezed my arm so tight I thought it might break. 12:01. One minute had passed. I breathed heavily as Ukedaro rushed in to comfort me. I regained control, but I knew that this was only the beginning.....
