"MIA! IF BILLY BLACK sees you, Carlisle is going to be in big trouble."
Amelia ignored her brother's warning tone, brushing her hair away from her face and enjoying the feel of the sun upon her skin. Her skin was glistening and if any human were to see her, she would expose everything Carlisle worked so hard to keep a secret.
Edward placed a hand on her shoulder. "Mia, we have to go home."
"Why can't we be normal?" She hissed. "Why can't I stand here at the beach or swim out into the waves? Why does everything in our life have to be so difficult?"
His voice dropped as low as it could. "Mia, that's not our life anymore. I know you want to be like the humans, but we can't be. We can't-"
"I know," she whispered, interrupting him. She pulled her shirt up to cover her shoulder, hiding the bikini underneath.
She took a last look at the waves. "I know."
