It had to be the hottest day of the year. That's what Harry believed anyway. He was sitting outside, pool side, sipping on some old Yorkshire tea while engaging in a conversation with his best mate Grimmy.
Harry studied the way the condensation of his dark tea steadily slid down the tall glass he had poured it into only moments before. He couldn't believe this was his life now. He shouldn't be sitting here relaxing when he could be in the studio with his favorite boys doing what he loved the most; Singing and performing. He often thought about giving the boys a ring but he new that both Niall and Louis wouldn't be easy to get a hold of since they are both busy hoisting their own soccer aid charity games and with Liam all MIA with his new summer lover he doubted he would have anytime for his curly haired band-mate. For a brief moment he even considered calling up Zayn. He quickly dismissed the thought when he figured that he was the last person Zayn would probably want to talk to right now especially with his new album making a debut.
That's how Harry got stuck with Nick. Nick is always free in the afternoons seeing as he mainly only takes up the morning broadcast now at the studio since the last guy they had had been fired for numerous reason that Harry couldn't get out of Nick. Anytime he tried to ask, Nick would always tell him that ' It doesn't matter how I got the job the idea is to not look a gift horse in the mouth' or whatever crazy shit he had been talking.
Harry raised his glass up to his mouth to take another swing of his tea but stopped mid motion when grimmy started to open his mouth.
" I didn't know you were getting new neighbors." He said as he lifted his designer ray bans that probably cost more than Harry's house bills put together.
Harry sat up, raised an eyebrow up in question and copied the older males movements as he also lifted up his rays to get a better look at the new comers that were moving a big moving tuck into the house right across from his own.
" I didn't either" .
He was actually really suprised. It was a rare thing for people to move into a neighborhood like Harry's. Not only because it's an expensive place to live ( he is Harry Styles after all) but it's also in the middle of nowhere. It always took security a good half an hour to get to his house to pick him up before an interview.
" Should we go say 'hi' or summat? " Nick got up and dusty off the imaginary dirt from his trousers. " Ya think we'd scare them off on their first day here ?" Nick asked as he embraced a short snorty laugh.
Harry glanced over the rim of his glasses over to his supposedly new neighbors and shrugged his shoulders, wincing as he did since he forgot about his sunburn he had somehow acquired through out the day.
" Do you really think we should bother them?" he gave them another look, " look, their old people. No fun to be found here" He said as he retook his seat in his hammock , continuing his rythmaic swings.
" She doesn't look old to me"
she? Harry didn't notice a she.
As he stood back up to look over that edge of the fence that separated his front yard and his back, he spotted the girl Nick had been talking about and... Damn. Was she wearing wellies? In this weather? What is wrong with that girl?
The girl looked about 20 in Harry's opinion. Two years younger than him. She had long wavy hair that was pulled back by a red bandanna that was used as a headband, and she was wearing a grey Jack Wills shirt, much like the ones he use to wear back in his fetus days, that had the sleeves cut out to look like a tank.
Harry admired the way she walked with such confidence even with a style as weird and dry as hers.
Harry couldn't see her eyes from this far but he imagined they were just as beautiful as the rest of her. He watched as she made her way back into her house before disappearing for the rest of the night. Harry didn't know how he felt about this new mystery girl. The last neighbor that moved in had always been all over Harry and it annoyed him to no end. Thankfully she had been busted with her meth lab a few month ago so she was no longer a problem to Harry.
" Cheer up you sour puss" Nick said as he ruffled Harry's hair earning a groan and a plea of stop from him in response. " Look on the bright side! Now you have a friend to try out all your old jokes on again and pretend like they are funny!"
" Shut it Grimshaw or you'll be going home early" . Both boys laughed as Harry jumped on the bed next to Nick and started to pay fight before settling for watching old Disney movies and cuddling up under the covers.
Harry was grateful to have a friend like Nick at times like these. He knows that Nick leaves tomorrow to return to London and he was deeply upset about the situation because he knew when Nick left he would be alone in his big house all alone for a long time. He decided that night that he needed to try to make more friends or this was gong to be one long hiatus for him.
