I'm standing next to my bed with the back of my hands covering my butt, I know what's going to happen. Mother's standing there glaring at me the way she always does, thinking of how I'm going to get punished this time.

Jokes on her, I already know my punishment. A paddling from a yard stick on my rear end and then on my hands, such a callous woman with little she can do to punish such a small child.

"Alexandria." The glare- the glare, the horrendous thousand yard stare. I mustn't look, but I have too.

I look up to be met with the wondrous eyes of Mother Livis' eyes. The woman's a witch, a look that only you could explain as the demons glare.

"Your already 10 years old, you know that that means!" She unfolds her hands from behind her back and grabs the ruler, I clench my buttocks.

Here it comes.

"You're starting to become older, an adolescent, a young lady in a big world. Frankly my dear, you're getting a little.. chubby. No lad wants to marry a chunky ape!" Mother exclaims.

Wait, what?

"What does he want to marry Alexandria?" She gleams and whacks it across the legs of the desk.

I look down confused. I relax and speak what I had learned from Mother years before. "A lad wants a lady with birthing hips, not a birthing stomach. Unless she's pregnant than its, okay."

"That's my girl." She turns her head and whispers to Miss Marcy. I look down and grab my belly, I'm not birthing! I walk into my bathing room and step onto my stool so I can check out my stomach.

I face forwards, and eh nothing's wrong. I turn to get down and I check my self one more time. There it is, my stomach curving more than a pudding bowl shape during a 7 year olds birthday party.

"Alexandria! I have your punishment!" She screeches.

I'm going to go for a run aren't I?

"You'll be training with the Noyeasten Guard my dear. "

I gasp.

The Noyesten Guard?

THE NOYESTEN GUARD?

"Mom- Mother! No! I'm not accepting this!" I whine and stomp myself into the room throwing my hands in the air.

"Yes you are, Alexandria. It wasn't a question, it was a statement." She says as she walks out my room with Mercy trailing her.
