A Thousand Miles

My name is Maika Audrey, 19 years old. They call me Myks, I'm a 4th year college student who spent life studying, surfing the internet, take pictures, watch movies with my friends and families and work on my stories. I'm a journalist 'slash' photographer in our university, I write articles about almost everything. I just love to write whatever I have in my mind! Well... my life is just like this. I woke up, I eat breakfast, take a bath, go to my closet and try different outfits (in the morning) and I go to school everyday, except wednesday, saturdays and sundays.

At school... scenes would be like this: "Hi Audrey! What's up? Let's eat lunch? My treat!"

"Hey Myks, are you free later for dinner?"

"If you need help about anything, just call me :) "

"Hi Audrey, you look great today!" blah-blah-blah! Boys be like that! Though I know them already, but I don't really talk to them or entertain them. I gain a lot of attention here in the university, yes because I'm the school  photographer/ journalist leader.

"Hey geek, what's up? I have lots of things to tell you!  Omg!" my friend Kaye told me. She's my co-journalist and also my photography buddy for 3 years.

"I'm great geeks, what is it all about?" I asked.

"Well, remember my crush Tyler? Omg! He talked to me! Waaah kilig (shudder) much girl!!!" she said shuddering.

"That's cool! What did he tell you?"

"About the practicum, he asked about the details of the student seminar. Can you believe that? Of all the people, he asked me!"

"I'm happy for you Kayeee :) "

"Yeah right! Haha, anyways we gotta go to the office, I drafted some good topics to be featured about for the next month, you might wanna check out"

"Sure! Okay let's go. But I have to go to the lab first, I'll pick up the photos I printed yesterday. Wait for me in the office"

"Okay."

Kaye is a fine girl. She's tall, I find her sexy and really nice and smart. Anyways, I'm picking up some photos, I took a photo of the proper uniforms of the soon to be trainees next month like me. Hmm... these models I used are the Mr. and Ms popular of our campus, Janica, Jason, Breymar, Paul, Coleen, and Margaux, they are all fine and friendly. They look classy in these pictures,  I really like my job! ;) Now I gotta go to the office. From this laboratory since I'm in the 3rd floor, I have to go down to the ground floor, get out of SLH building and another walk like 80 steps all the way to PBB pavillon and take stairs to the second floor of the building.

I saw Kaye reading something from her laptop. "Hey geeks, what's that?" I asked.

"Look, I'm reading from a facebook status. Just curious,  people have been talking about this featured story on the tv last week."

"About?"

"The girl who have met a guy from the internet and they started dating, well a web date I guess. They kept in touch through Skype and other mobile communicating apps and now they are engaged!"

"wow! Interesting."

"I know. That's why I came up with this... read it."

'Long Distance Relationship. How do people fall in love considering how far they are apart from each other. Is love enough for them to stay as a couple ? '

"Hmmm, this is good. We could make a study for this. We can make a survey around the school about Long Distance Relationship, I wonder how many students here are into this. Good job geeks!" I said to Kaye.

"Thanks geek! Now we have something to work on again."

"haha I know! But we are scholars because of this, remember?"

"Whatever :) so they got engaged? Did the guy came for her? How did he proposed to her?"

"Yeah the guy did, and when he went back to the US after a few months for their anniversary, he proposed through Skype BUT he did a surprise to the girl, he asked his girlfriend to go to her parents because he wanted to meet them, though her family already knew about their relationship, and when her parents were there, well its in their garden I guess and the mob came out with flowers together with Jireh Lim (a singer) who sings her favorite song and the guy showed her the ring and he proposed. Uhhhh, isn't it so sweet?"

"Ooh yeah it is. That's really cute!" I said.

"I like it, wish Tyler could make such surprises like that! haha"

"you wish!"

"What? Just saying..."

"So do you still have classes today Kaye?"

"Nah, I dont have class on fridays, I'm going home. I told Mom I'll eat lunch with them today. What about you?"

"I have my Research class later at 1:30pm, but we can walk together"

"Are you gonna eat alone again?"

"Nope. Jake will meet me at Shakeys"

"Cool. Okay, then let's go!"

I usually eat alone during lunch, since its just mondays and thursdays when I can eat with Kaye and some of other co-journalist. But sometimes my best friend Jake would come to visit and eat lunch with me. Like today, he texted me to meet him at Shakeys so we could eat lunch together.

I walked with Kaye and she took a cab when we get in front of where I will meet Jake. When I entered the pizza place I saw Jake sitting there and waiting for me, the pizza was already served. He stood up and lead me to my seat which is really sweet. He's a total gentleman, his girlfriend is such a lucky girl.

"How's your day?" Jake asked.

"Good so far, how about yours?"

"Just fine. I have a news for you."

"Good or bad?"

"Not a very good one, but its still okay"

"What is it about then? "

"I broke up with Jazmine"

"Whaaaaat??! Why would you do that?"

"I caught her talking to someone from your school. I borrowed her Skype, I was supposed to call aunt but this Tyler guy showed up video calling."

"Tyler? You mean that varsity guy? Kaye has a crush on that one. So what else happened?"

"Jazzy didn't know I will use her Skype, I asked her what's up with her and Tyler but she just said they are friends. "

"What if, they're just friends?"

"I don't think so. I have proof."

"what proof then?"

"She said it was nothing. That its just Tyler who's flirting with her. But take a look at this, I took a screenshot before she was able to delete it..."
'Tyler: hey baby
Jaz: baby your face!
Tyler: what? so, pick you up at 6:00pm?
Jaz: alright, see ya!
Tyler: ;) '

"What was that about? yeah I think you're right Jake. When did you get this?" I asked him feeling sorry for him. I wasn't really in favor of him dating that Jazmine, and now I might not like Kaye being attracted to Tyler neither!

"A week ago." he said.

We talked about him and Jazzy during our lunch but thank goodness he's not that hurt about what happened. He said it is all fine now, that at least he found out Jaz's little flirtatious side before he fell in love that deep for that girl. As if I didn't know Jazzy just flirted on him too.

After lunch he sent me to my class and then he left.
