I was crawling slowly across the forest floor. My hair covered my face as I was looking for my friend; we were playing hide and seek. Unfortunately for him, I know this forest more than the animals. I could hear his feet hitting the ground, the dry leaves crunching, and twigs snapping. I approached a thick oak tree, circled around and scared my friend Tarren. The look on his face was priceless, "Marco! You swine! I thought you were a beast!" He shouted at me. "You should head home before it gets too dark." I suggested to my friend, "You should do the same; Dad told me that many adventurers get lost out here."
"HA!" I said with a cocky tone "I know these woods more than anyone, I could never get lost!"
The elders of the village told me that not only was I the most adventurous of the children in the village, I was also the most intelligent. But, my attitude was the only thing they didn't like. They described it as 'cocky'. Tarren started walking back to the village but I stayed behind a waiting for the wolves that come only in the dead of night when the moon is full. I lied down on the ground waiting for the Alpha wolf to find me, he and his pack would always take me to interesting places but, today was different. One of the other wolves dashed through the forest and found me, he was acting crazy and frantic. He wanted me to follow him. We ran out of the forest high into the snowy mountains that hid my village. The wolf stopped and slowly walked towards an open cave. He was paranoid. I couldn't tell if it was fear or anger in his red, firey eyes but he was stiff and preparing for something, He howled. And waited for a reply. But, the others didn't howl back. He ran into the cave and I, stupidly followed in after.
I slowly walked through the wet stone of the cave floors, my bare feet splashed water onto my ankles, and I could see my breath. Water trickled off the ceiling and splashed onto the ground. The sound echoed through the entire cave and sent chills up my spine, with each step I went further and further into the cave. All I could think about was, "What could be so dangerous the pack had to split?" I've been friends with the wolves ever since they saved me from a giant bear. They circled around the forested area, the first wolf tackled the bear directly, 2 wolves then bit and latched on to its arms and held on tight, 2 more then tackled it's legs knocking it down, then the Alpha walked over and tore open its neck. They were fearless. But to call for backup for something seemed impossible to me, I have no clue what was going on but, I just kept walking.
I stopped at a small pile of bones, though shocked I sat down next to it, I placed my hand back and felt something leathery, I looked at where my hand was and saw a book. Curiously, I picked it up and began to study the outside. In the center there was an odd purple and grey gemstone. But I didn't open it just yet. I heard a faint growling nearby, it was the Alpha. He was injured. I became alert and set down the book and placed my hands on the ground to symbolize a surrender, then I noticed he wasn't growling at me. I felt cold, sick, like something just died and rotting. I slowly turned around and I saw a witch holding out her hand and orange energy surged from her middle and index finger. I sat still in absolute shock, bugs flew from her crooked smile, the wolf was still growling but then I quickly thought of a plan. I remembered that one time the Alpha wolf would scratch the ground to tell the other wolves when to attack, so that's what I did. He responded by lunging at the witch knocking her down. Then, I noticed a solid black sword fly out of her tattered dress with a purple gemstone just like the one on the book. The gem sat in place on the hilt, and another on the pummel, I jumped up quickly grabbed the sword and placed my foot in her left wrist as the wolf bit and held down her right. All I could do was place the tip of the sword against her neck and say, "Who are you? And where are the other wolves!?" My voice echoed through the cave as she responded in a surprisingly soft voice, "I am the witch that resides in these mountains and I've been waiting for you Markus Ryan." Scared and shocked, I mistakenly leaned back taking pressure off of her wrist, "How do you know my name?" I said as my voice cracked, "You're the perfect specimen for my newest spell." The witch's voice changed, it was rough and dry like she hadn't spoken for days. I tensed up, I was scared and shaking, I looked over at the Alpha wolf but when I did, the witch suddenly had crazy strength and threw the both of us into the pile of bones. Orange energy surged from her fingers again and she stabbed me, I felt like something was crawling from her fingertips into my chest but, I was in to much pain to see. The witch was laughing in victory "Dietry con preti metra Onchia cronmera" she repeated this 5 times. What was she saying? How was this happening? I kept telling myself this was just a nightmare, but sometimes nightmares and reality are the same.
Journal entry 1
I have finally been accepted into Taomer University. My lunar studies on how they affect certain gemstones has been noticed by the King so he sent me to the highest University to work with other gemologist to further discuss my hypotheses.
I opened my eyes. I couldn't see anything. Was I blind or was it just dark? I lifted my hands to my face and covered my eyes, I still didn't know where I was, but I couldn't feel my legs, I felt like I was floating, or sinking. "Aren't you a little young to be a conduit?" I heard from an unknown distance. I pulled my hands away from my eyes, still pitch black but I could see a pair of bright orange eyes, and a ruby red glow passing through clenched jagged sharp teeth. "W.. Who are you?" I asked with a frightened studder. "Mhmp, my name is Onchi Ànyîng, and you Markus Ryan. You are scared."
Journal entry 2
The king must be very generous! He sent gifts, treats, and guards to protect my mother. I've heard of the King and the amount of respect and generosity he has, but this seems too good to be true!
Still floating, in whatever this place was, the only thing I could see well is a pair of bright orange eyes that belonged to something named Onchi. Like always. I was scared. This "thing" whatever it might be, scared me. "Shut up and just tell me where I am! And why am I here!?" I demanded with a cracking voice, "You are in a world that is connected to yours, but cannot be visited willingly."
"What is the supposed to mean? Can you be a little more specific?"
I waited patiently for him to answer, his orange eyes pierced my eyes with his unblinking stare. "Stop with the cheap tricks and tell me why I'm here!" The orange eyes began to bounce and it sounded like Onchi was laughing at my demand, "You have no authority here boy! Your wolf isn't here and you have no Blade!" He shouted as angry rose with his voice. Distant viscous growling echoed in the black area of where I stood. "Looks like you'll need one soon, or else you'll be dead before nightfall, in your world." his orange eyes started to fade out of sight, the growling from earlier seemed to be getting closer, and I stood panicking and defenseless. Shaking and cold.
I couldn't move, my brain and heart are pulsing and I feel sick. Still the growling from earlier was coming closer and closer and I could hear laughter in the distance. I have no clue what's happening, and I don't even know where I am. But I think this is where I die.
