You and your family had moved to New York almost a year ago now but you still felt like an outsider. You hadn't made to many friends and had only just started talking to a girl named April. Duclan, your little brother had more friends than you did thanks to his karate class. You? Well, you were trying to help your parents out. They worked for a laboratory company and had to work quite a bit. Most of the time you were watching your brother, earning money for it but you also make artwork and sold it. It was the least you could do to have some extra spending money. When you were free most of the time you could be found at the park not far from your apartment complex.

In fact you were there now, the spot that felt like a protective bubble. Leaning against the railing looking at the Hudson river. The stars were somewhere above you, blotted out by the lights of the city. You sighed heavily trying to clear your mind. The day hadn't been all that great, school had been crazy and you were tired of blending into the background. All the kids at school seemed to follow some fashion mag and you seemed to be out of the loop. "Girls are too much drama," You whispered to yourself as you leaned your chin on your hand. Thinking you were alone, you pulled out your cell and turned on your playlist; tapping your foot to the beat.

Rapheal had needed a break from his brothers desperately today. Even through Master Splinter had told him not to go topside he found a spot in the park that was quiet and dark. His own spot that people never really came to during the night. That was the only time he went there anyway. Ever since he had been coming there he had noticed you come to the park every time he was there. Sometimes he would beat you there and others he'd have to sneak passed you. Which wasn't all that hard being a ninja. Watching you stand there he saw you didn't have your sketch book, headphones or a notebook with you. He didn't know when but he began to enjoy watching you silently.

When you had turned on your playlist he groaned. That stupid song he had been hearing a lot of thanks to his little brother Michelangelo, why did you have to play it too?! "There are other people around here you know." He said from his hiding spot. You jumped and quickly tried to turn off your music.

You swear there hadn't been anyone there before! Once your music was off you looked around for the source of the voice. It had been raspy and deep much like your father when he was upset. You didn't see anyone. "W-where are you?" That same raspy voice chuckled. "I... I'm sorry for disturbing you," you said to whomever had been talking. "I didn't realize someone else was around."

He smiled to himself, "It's a public space." Raph watched you turn back toward the river and try to relax. He hadn't really meant to start talking to you, but he felt like he could talk to you. A few times he had heard you talking to yourself. You rubbed your face and turned around, making to leave. "You don't have to leave." He called, feeling like his presence was making you uncomfortable. You stopped in your tracks and looked around again.

You had been warned about strangers and all but it had been some times since you had a decent conversation with a person over the age of 8. "Are you friendly?"

"What kind of question is that?"

You fidgeted with your fingers, "I... I don't know. I mean I can't see you, I just... I was hoping you were an honest person.

This made him laugh, "You think I'd talk to you if I were some creep?" Though now that he said it out loud, he did think he was kind of creeping on you.

"Well, I guess not." There was a bit of silence before you spoke again. "So... What's your name?"

"You think I'd tell you?" he responded. It was one of those automatic responses he had, stuff to make him sound tough. "Maybe I'd like you not to know."

"W-Well, I was just wondering. I... I could use some more friends." What compelled you to say that, you weren't sure. Maybe you were just feeling that desperate to make a friend. You moved back toward the railing and sat down with your back to it. "I've been living here for almost a year now and I still don't have any friends my age." You brought your knees up and rested your arms on them. 'Might as well ,' you thought.

"Where did you move from?" He asked. He had always wanted someone else to talk to other then his brothers too. He knew making friends outside of the lair could be deadly to others, IF they found out who he was.

The two of you talked for nearly an hour. You would have talked more but your parents texted you to come home. "I have to go home." You sighed getting up but not wanting to leave. "Could we do this again?"

He couldn't believe it, you wanted to do this again? With him? Did he want to? "Yea I guess. How about tomorrow?" He saw the smile spread on your face. It was kind of cute. He felt his cheeks heat up.

"Tomorrow would be great. I guess we can meet here, same time? Well I mean, yea of course same place." You knocked yourself in the head. 'Duh (Y/N)!'

He chuckled as you did that. "Yea. I'll be here."

You were about to leave when you remembered you didn't know their name and they didn't know yours. "My name is (Y/N) by the way." You waited for a response but there didn't seem to be one, so you turned toward your house. Maybe your new friend wasn't ready to tell you their name. Sighing you began walking away with your hands behind your back.

"(Y/N), has a nice ring to it." He called. You turned and smiled, giving a small wave. Though you were waving far off from where he was hiding he took the gesture in good faith. He actually felt good about talking to you. Once you turned away he dropped from the tree he had been hiding in. Raph moved over to the railing and flipped over it. The drainage tunnel to the river was right there and his best access to the park. He went home to the lair with a smile on his face, much like you did.
