Chapter 1

Lazily, I look throughout the board and spy for a possible move. As I search, I see that my White Bishop is in check with my opponent's Black King. When I look up, I can see that my foe knows it too. I lift my hand and grasp the neck of  my Bishop.

"Checkmate." I say, yawning as I swing my Bishop and whack the Black King in the face. The chess piece flies of the board and rolls onto the floor. Out of the corner of my eye I can see my opponent clutching their head and clenching their teeth. You would think, after fifty-three rounds, that someone would actually learn. I guess not.

"Y-You cheated! It's n-not fair!" I can't help but find my opponents shaky voice hilarious. I don't even flinch when I hear their hand slam against the table. "I call for another round!"

"I agreed to play a game of chess with you, not for you to bore me." As I speak, I start to stand and turn away. "Now, if you'll excuse me, I have somewhere to be."

"Where do you think you're going?"

"My room. I'm tired."

"Fine!" I turned to see my opponent stand up. He spit at the chess board, and marched off.

"So, sweetheart, how was your date with the mayor's son, Damian?" My mother's piercing eyes stared me down.

"Please, do not call me sweetheart." I muttered.

Somehow, my mother was able to hear me from across the dining table. "Of course, Reagan." She spoke in a sort of innocent, mock tone.

I tried to ignore her question by focusing on my food. Today, the chef had decided to serve fresh, seasoned fish with potatoes and peas. One of the maids had told me that we were having butterscotch pudding for dessert.

My mother must have expected Damian to stay for food. She had ordered the maids to decorate the entire dining hall with flowers and pottery. The table cloth was a faded lavender, supposedly Damian's favorite color, and the dinner plates were ones of a set I had never seen before.

"Excuse me, Reagan, have you gone mute? How was your day with Damian." She had begun tapping her foot, showcasing her impatience.

"It was lovely." I gave in to her nagging. "We walked through the gardens and talked for a while. He had even picked a carnation for me. To end the day, we played a round a chess. I won, of course!" I tried to smile while I spoke.

Truthfully, the day was terrible. Sure, we had walked through the gardens, but that carnation he had picked was not for me, but himself. Why would I give it to you? Flowers should be given to those who are beautiful. I think I shall keep this for myself. I still can't get his posh voice out of my head.

"Oh, well that's excellent! Maybe we shall arrange another tomorrow?" My mother smiled innocently.

"No!" I shouted.

"Where are your manners?" My mother looked shocked.

"I'm sorry. I mean, no, I don't think we should schedule another date with Damian. He seems nice," I lied, "but I think it would be nice to take a break. Mother, I was wondering if I could, I don't know, attend a..."

"A what?"

"A regular school."

~~Author's Note

Sorry if this is crappy, I was tired when I wrote this. Anyway, thank you for reading the first chapter of Destined To Fall! I am not used to writing stories about love or romance, but I think this actually might turn out well. I don't expect this to get many views, I am just writing to practice this specific genre.

Do you like Reagan? Do you think she's a bitch? I tried to make her as realistic as possible (as realistic as a rich person can get). More characters and chapters to come! Stay tuned! My inspiration for this story came from the anime Ouran High School Host Club #kisskissfallinlove
