Have you ever felt like you’re a ghost? Invisible? No? Well, you’ve all seen the movies, I suppose. Or heard the stories, and they just about always end up in either your top 10 worst or lamest ever. Well, this is sort of like that.
Sort of.
You’re probably wondering what the difference is, right? I mean, this is probably just one of those hopeless romances where the guy loves the girl who doesn’t even know he exists. Well, I can tell you you’re close.
Close.
So, that difference you were wondering about. I’m a ghost.
A real ghost.
Don’t worry, I haven’t died or anything. I’m just a ghost. I don’t know how it’s possible, but I am. I age and grow, and I’ve even gone to school. Human school, of course. It’s not hard when you’re a ghost.
Don’t believe me? Think it’s ridiculous? Well, it is, isn’t it? Some people can see me. You must be one of them. Sometimes I’m that tiny movement you catch in the corner of your eye. Other times people assume they’re hallucinating. A rare few have actually understood. Then there are the people who can sense me, but not see me, but more on that later.
I suppose I should also mention that I’m not the only one. There are plenty. Perhaps not as many as there are flesh-and-blood humans, but still a lot. Some say we’re created out of children’s imaginary friends, and that these children simply lose the ability to see us as they grow, when society tells them we don’t exist. Others say we’re children of the wind. Do I believe it? Maybe. I’m not so sure.
But back to the point of the story. Remember when I mentioned the hopeless romances? Sorry to disappoint, but this story kind of fits into that category.
By the way, my name’s Zea, pronounced zay-ah. A girl’s name, yeah, but it’s uncommon enough for most people to accept it.
This is the story of… Well, me and Phoenix.
