She felt the world crashing around her when she heard the news reports about the draft.
She felt her heart being crushed in a vice when the draft called him to war.
She felt everything she'd ever known shatter when she watched him climb on the train that could possibly lead to his death.
She felt the warmth of hot tears on her face every night as she cried herself to sleep with memories playing in her mind, and the dried tears on her face every morning when she woke up.

She felt the vice around her heart disappear as she ran to him and hugged him tightly.
She felt her tears of despair and fear be replaced with tears of relief and joy as she heard him laugh with the same relief and joy as she felt.
And she knew everything would be okay as she whispered, "Welcome home" to her brother, and heard him reply to her greeting with "I'm glad to be back."
