Two years ago today,
I sat on my porch steps,
Wondering where my life,
Was going to take me next.
Little did I know,
That very,very soon,
My heart would fall,ever so deep,
And looking at you,I would swoon.
I couldn't believe I was lucky enough,
That it was you,I would earn,
And my silly,boring life,
Would take a crazy,blissful turn.
Two years into this heaven
Two years into this glory,
I see myself happy,
As I tell people our story.
Who knew that girl crying all night,
The one with no life,
Was soon to be a lovely man's
Lawfully wedded wife.
As I sit on my sofa,
Watching our kids play
My mind goes flying back,
To that blissful summer day.
"Will you be my wife?" You asked
My hands suddenly went cold,
As I felt something amazing,
Something far more precious than silver or gold.
50 years ago today,
I sat on those porch steps,
Today as I narrate this story to you,
I knew what happened next.
