"Do you have everything, Amanda?" My mom asked as I picked up my purple flowered backpack.
"Yeah I think so." I answered doing a quick check of what was in my hands. Flute, lunch, and backpack. I was all ready.
"Good. I will see you after school, Amanda. Remember to have fun and learn something new today! Have a great first day of middle school (6th grade)" Mom said as I started to walk out the door.
"I'll try!" I smiled as I carefully made my way down our townhouse steps. It was my first day of middle school and I had a million butterflies in my stomach. There were so many things I was nervous about I can't even name them all! Who will I sit with on the bus, will I make new friends, do I look pretty and cute today, will anyone look different? I was starting to second guess what I was wearing when I saw the old yellow bus turning the corner. The minute I get on that bus 6th grade officially starts.
When the bus pulls up to my stop I take a moment to smooth down my white dress and run my fingers through my straight hair. I usually have curly hair, but my mom straighten it today. She said it looks more professional when it's straight. I personally like my curly hair, but it's no use trying to fight with my mother.
I follow Sammy Granger onto the school bus and look around for my Best friend, Elise. She was sitting in the 3rd row near the window waiting for me. I plopped down next to her we launched into a conversation about what we think middle school will be like. Then, we start talking about girly stuff like hair and makeup.
Elise is absolutely gorgeous. She has long, dark brown, straight hair, the brightest blue eyes I have ever seen, and freckles. Apparently I'm pretty, too. Well, at least that is what I've been told by some people. I have blue\grey eyes, tan skin, and curly blond hair. I wouldn't say that I was gorgeous, but fairly pretty like most girls in my grade.
Anyway, when the bus turns into the loop in front of our new school my heart skips a beat. When it comes to a stop, my heart jumps. When it opens the door, my nerves get the best of me and I have to hold onto Elise to stop myself from fainting. This was the beginning.
