"Hey Belle! Are you enjoying the trip?" I grimaced, hearing my mother's voice through the phone.
"Mm, the city of no sleep is not that bad," I said, shrugging even though I knew she couldn't see me. "Let's just say Decca ditched me for a cotton candy shop, Quirsie ran along with Abigail to the ice cream shop and Lexi is with her mum, so I don't know exactly what to think."
She chuckled over the phone. "You remind me so much of your father."
I rolled my eyes, shoving my hands into my aviator jacket, noting the cold. "Mum, we lived in Asia, one of the closest places to the equator, which makes it super hot. You told me my dad had golden hair like the sun, but I have black hair. Your hair."
"Sweetie, I thought I told you, when you want to see what your dad looked like,—"
"—look in the mirror and look at your eyes and you will see him looking at you with the eyes of the sky," I finished for her, glancing up at the sky. I didn't mind the heat, and neither did I mind the sun. I've always had this thing that enabled me to look directly at the sun and not get blind. In fact, I've gotten used to it.
"See, you even memorized it!" We were only talking over the phone, but I could see her beaming.
"You said it so many times, how could I not?" I responded cheekily.
"Blessing Helios Quinn, can you just stop relying on cheekiness and live a little?" My mom demanded, playfully might I add.
"Marisa Celestial Quinn, I will live a little," I paused. "by relying on cheekiness."
My mom's laugh echoed in my ears and I grinned. "You even inherited your father's sense of humor."
I made a face. "My sense of humor sucks though."
"In your dreams."
"My sense of humor sucks, agreed."
"You're just proving me right," She pointed out.
I heard a beep and saw that my phone was nearly dead. "Call you later, mum, my phone's dead."
I snapped my phone shut and shoved it into my pocket, pulling on my headphones and turning on my iPod.
Checking around for anyone, I saw that it was clear.
Then I grinned and hummed along to the song.
"Some legends are told, some turn to dust or to gold, but you will remember me," I sang softly, closing my eyes and walking. "Remember me, for centuries."
It continued along like that until I caught a glimpse of gold. I took a closer look and saw it was a pocket watch.
Walking towards the pocket watch cautiously, I picked it up and flipped it open. It looked more like a Greek one than a normal one. I furrowed my eyebrows then tapped the middle part then jumped.
The pocket watch was transforming into something that was definitely not a pocket watch. The long hand pointed up and the other pointed down and the sides folded, the hands elongating upwards into a golden thing, and then I noticed a nearly invisible string connecting the two ends, passing in front of my right shoulder.
I grinned. "A golden bow."
I observed it, flipping it over then seeing an earring of a G-clef on the middle with a matching one for aiming. Picking it up and sliding it onto my ear, smiling as it felt light. The only way I could tell that it was still there was by feeling the heat from it, despite the cold weather.
An idea popped into my head, then I posed as if I was about to shoot. Plopping my hand beside the aiming clef, I pulled it taunt and like I thought, a golden arrow with a silver tip and a red feather appeared out of thin air and inserted perfectly into my position, as if it was already notched there.
