Skktch Skktch Skktch
There it was again. That dragging shuffling sound filled me with dread. The sound that was always accompanied by the dark shadow, flitting menacingly around my room. Nobody believed me when I spoke of the monster that invaded my room each night. When I spoke of the pure terror his presence fills me with. No one believes the ramblings of a young girl.

He’s closer now. Louder. I dare not scream. He’s braver now that no one will check on me. Now that no one believes me. He sits there taunting me. Only ever here in the dark of the night, watching me with his cold eyes.

The shuffling sounds of his movements mixed with the steady drips and taps of the rain pouring from the heavy black clouds outside my window. Thunder and lightning cackled in the distance.
His howl of laughter rolled through my room like fog, breaking his silence. I squeezed my eyes shut tight and pulled my blanket up to my nose with trembling hands. I tried to distract myself with the smell of the blanket, a warm smell, and of happy thoughts. But nothing could distract me. The warm smell of the blanket was drown out by his smell. The happiest thoughts were pulled from my mind by his mere presence.

Closer now. Do I dare look? Do I dare scream? Cool breath meet my face making my stomach roll. I let a small whimper escape my lips. Slowly I pry my eyes open. Beady red eyes bore into mine. A small smirk plays across his lips.
Then he’s gone. I can still feel him though. Still hear him. The dark suffocates me, making me dizzy. I hate the dark, because he’s here when it’s dark, hiding in the corners of the room, watching me. When it’s truly dark I can’t see him but I now he’s here.
Skktch Skktch Skktch BOOM!
Lightening flashed and thunder crashed, illuminating my room. I saw him then. He was more horrifying than I thought.
A short thing hair that was matted and dirty, his clothes stained and torn. He has sharp yellowing teeth that were stained red in places. His eyes were as red as blood. He was not human.
This time I did scream, a blood curdling scream of pure terror. He looked my way again and threw his head back and laughed.
I jumped from my bed and took off at a sprint. I was half way to the door when something crashed into my legs. The floor was rushing towards my face. I screamed as my face hit the floor with a sickening crack. Blood poured from my nose and from a gash on my forehead, from where I hit my head on a shattered glass. Blood was steadily pooling around my head.
My vision was slowly fading to black. The last thing I ever saw was his red eyes staring into mine.
