Chapter 1:
As midnight approached ever so slowly, I lie in my bed hiding my body under the sheets, trying to keep myself warm. I grasp onto my teddy bear, Jett, just hoping to make myself feel warmer or feel safer, somehow it worked a little, but it was never enough to make me feel happy. Tomorrow would be the first day at a new school for me. After 3 years of being bullied and teased and treated awfully at my last high school I am preying that I don’t end up being treated like that again. I just want to have a simple year and make at least one friend that doesn’t ditch me, that truly loves me, doesn’t leave me for someone else, someone who won’t lie to me and someone who loves me for me.
I suddenly hear the constant beeping noise that wakes me from my slumber; I turn my head and see the time, 7:00.
It’s too early! keep sleeping!
I press the snooze button and cover my head with an un-used pillow. About 5 minutes later my foster mum barges into my room screaming for me to get out of bed or I’ll miss the bus.
As I gradually make my way out of my bed I go over to my dressing table and start making myself look presentable enough to go to school. After getting myself ready I run down the stairs, with my little brother screaming at me to kiss him goodbye, I did, he’s the only person I care about anymore. My older sister having yet another fight with my foster mum about dating.
there is more to life than guys you know?..
I place my headphones in my ears turn on my music to full, grab some food out of the fridge, along with iced coffee for my breakfast and go out the door.
As I walk down the street, with the music blasting into my ears, drinking my iced coffee people stare at me. They were from my now, old school. I walk as fast as I can try to not let anyone notice me. But they do. They stare and start whispering to one another. It was like that every day ever since the day my parents had died. 4 years ago, one night, just before my birthday I was waiting for them to get home from work. I waited and waited and waited for them to come home, but they never did. The next day I got a phone call, it was the hospital asking me to come visit. So I did. But I didn’t expect to see my dead parent’s bodies, lying on a bed. I remember freezing. Just standing there. Staring at them. All I could feel was pain. They never deserved to die. They were the only people who cared about me. And they were gone. It felt like hell. Like there was nothing good left in the world. Like I would be like that forever. Ever since that day I have never felt good, or happy or even okay and that was the day people started to bully me.
I take my first step into my new school. Year 10 I’m in now. I walk down the main hallway trying to rush past all the screaming, running, crazy acting people into some place quitter. The speaker sounds, with the first announcement of the year saying “good morning students, welcome to another year at William Fergerson High, for all new students would you please go to student reception to get your class scehdural, locker number and code and find out which homeroom you’re in, thank you”. I couldn’t really figure out what was being said esactly, all I could really hear from that was all new students to student reception. So I went there. Turns out there were a couple of new kids in my year other than me Jack, a black tall athletic guy, Maisy a sweet innocent looking girl and Dan, a quiet guy who was actually quite attractive, the strong silent type.
please be a good year for me, please.
The moment I step foot into my new homeroom, everyone stares at me like I just murdered someone. It was really awkward for me. I give my teacher my forms that the reception gave me and find a seat in the back left corner, a quiet and darker place than the rest of the room. Perfect for me. I sit down on the seat, while the teacher Miss Dareil go on about it being an amazing new school year for everything or something like that, I wasn’t really paying attention.
