Jenix - Catch Fire

Born in captivity
Time's your worst enemy
Your face is getting older

Karli sighed softly to herself as she let her gaze wander out her bedroom window and over the barren and scorched land of the nether, the place she has always called home. Ever since her 18th her father has forbidden the one thing she desired most, to see the overworld for all its glory. Karli had read many stories from the diaries of those who died in the nether, their stories often telling how they miss their families and their friends... Friends, something Karli didn't know of...

You try to keep your age
Inside this golden cage
Your heart is getting colder

Karli shifted her gaze over to the small golden box on her bedside table, her father had given it to her for her birthday. A small golden jewellery box that would play a soft melody when opened. Karli however had found another use for it and had been storing some of her power within it ever since she got it, soon she knew she'd be ready to break free of the nether and see the overworld as she dreamed

Don't you feel
You're slowly dying
Day by day
They treat you like an animal

Karli sighed softly to herself before lifting her gaze to her door where her father stood, it was time for lunch after all and he had come to collect her from her room. Karli lowered her gaze before standing from her window seat and approaching her jewellery box, 'it's now or never' she thought to herself as she gently set her hand on the golden box and it began to glow softly, causing her father to shift..

You've gotta fight
You've gotta start a riot
So let's wake up
Your sleeping lion

Her fathers eyes widened at the realisation of what she was doing and he rushed forward, the golden glow curled up Karlis arm and infused her with her long stored power, the marks glowing a brilliant white that almost blinded her father before flames burst forth from them. This knocked her father off balance and he tumbled back, Karli managed a sad smirk before stalking towards her father

Catch fire, catch catch fire!
Wake up the sleeping lion
And use your mind

Her form remained engulfed in flames as her father picked himself up, his once hazel eyes now a blazing white as he called on his own power to try and stop her but she already knew all his tricks and simply blurred past him and into the hallway

Catch fire, catch catch fire!
Wake up the sleeping lion
Do you feel alive?
Don't let it get you down

She knew it was wrong to simply leave her father but she wanted what she desired most and would fight for it. Karli began to run through the darkened corridors, the flames cloaking her giving her enough light to see as she headed for the front door and bursting through it

-fade to white-

Do you know the reason why
Why they never let you sleep at night
And you're running round in circles

The cloaked figure adjusted their hood slightly as they looked over the town in the deep of night, watching the last few people leaving the market place and heading home from a hard days work
