From the foot of the Elwynn forest above the sleepy hamlet of Goldshire next to Goldshire Abby sits the city of Stormwind. On a summers day in the gentle breeze the banners wave majestically in an almost defiant manner. For this city is the last bastion of human hope for survival. This city is the last city that the humans can safely call home. The day started like almost any other day, in the respect the city survived another attack, the people got up with the sun to go about their daily business as if almost in protest at the Horde attacks. And on this particular day from one of the windows of the tower in the mage quarter two figures look out and observe all of the days activities. Two figures that are unaware just how much more different this day shall be. So different in fact that no day that follows it shall be the same again.
“Carolinus my old friend, we need to do something. Such interruptions can not be allowed to go on. My mages can’t be expected to put up with this!” The human mage was fixed on the unusual trafficking of people and relocating people from within the magic quarter of the city. Such activity had been going on for some months now and some unusual excuses and rumours had been banded about but no one knew what exactly was going on. “Modiack my dear boy, you need to calm down. I’m sure that he knows what he is doing.” Carolinus had always been the optimist. As the head of the warlock council and oldest member of the magic council he was usually right. Usually mind, there was times that he was wrong. Or as he put it less than correct. He was normally a happy soul as most of his fellow gnomes were. But even he had sensed that something is wrong. He gave a deep sigh of contemplation, “I’m afraid you are right Modiack. Decos must finally be feeling the effects of old age” Modiack spun round, “What in blazes are you talking about finally? He’s been off his gryphon for years!” The gnome laughed slightly and smiled. The smile made Modiack almost smirk. Almost feeling himself laugh himself. Well, almost! The rage took over him again. “Why has he asked us here? Why have so many of our mages and warlocks been forced from their academic studies and been made to uproot?” Before the gnome could raw breath he was cut off “Its not right and I want answers!” “Modiack!” shouted Carolinus almost lifting off the ground without the need for magic. He composed himself before beginning “You were called here as was I” Modiack nodded, “Well then!” sighed the almost exhausted warlock. “Well what?” exclaimed Modiack whos anger had not left. “Well then, we are surely going to find out what Decos has planned.”
Although Modiack knew Carolinus was right he just couldn’t let his anger go. He had always been a bad tempered sort. His real ambition was to take place next to the king as magic adviser. Everyone knew that he wanted Decos’s place and he made little effort to try hide it from people, although he had never tried to actually do anything about it.
Modiack did his best to compose himself. He turned to Carolinus and asked “what is the deal with those….cat things of his?” Carolinus stroked his beard and thought. “I don’t quite know exactly. They are strange indeed, nothing I have seen in these parts that’s for sure.”
Before any of them could do anything about it the door handle creaked into life. And the door opened. In walked Decos followed by two large black coloured cats. Both cats walked over and sat on either side of the main chair in the room. Decos dresses in his Dalaran regalia that if truth be known it had seen better days and looked several sizes too bit for him. He walked slowly up to the chair and sat down, both Carolinus and Modiack looked at each other and looked at Decos and then back to each other. Although nothing was said just the simple look was more than enough. “hmm now then, what was it we were here to discuss?” Coarolinus stepped in first if only to stop Modiack from exploding. “Well its about all the upheaval of late, its interrupting all our students…” began Carolinus before Modiack cut in “How the blazes are we to study if we keep having to uproot and move all the time. And just when I thought the Park was safe I find a great big hole being dug!” Carolinus tried hard not to let his amusement at all of this get the better of him knowing full well that it might tip poor Modiack over the edge. Stroking his beard and thinking to himself the larger of the two cats looked up and growled gently as if to murmur something to him. Looking nervously at the cat and then at the two standing in front of him then back to the cat again, Decos said in a worried tone “No, we can’t we are just not ready yet. There is so much still to do!”
