Chapter 1
(Emma)
Fuzzy images flashed through my mind as pain flooded throughout my body. It felt as through a huge weight was pressing down on my entire body squishing it. Fire raced through my veins, as I screamed aloud wanting nothing more than to die just so I could escape the pain. That’s when the images cleared and I saw faces, and I knew that if I accepted death than I would never see these people who were important to me.
I just didn't know how they were important to me.
I had absolutely no recollection of seeing these people in my life. There was a redhead with intimidating green eyes, and a tall brown haired man with the sweetest face. More faces flashed and faded from my mind before only one remained. It was a man, no a God. He stood a full head above me and was built to move mountains. Strong muscles wrapped around his arms and I had a strange urge to just curl up and stay in his arms forever. The image formed a name- Cole.
When the image started to fade I screamed again, only this time not due to the physical pain I felt, but from the blinding agony I felt thinking I'd forget the image of the stranger. When the man was completely gone from my mind I couldn't draw his face back up, or the name that had come with it. After the image show ended the pain grew in intensity. I felt the weight push harder against me, and suddenly I couldn't breath. Fire coursed though me and I was sure that if I were able to open my eyes at this point I'd see my body turned to ash.
Suddenly, just as it started, it stopped. I no longer felt pain, but I felt rejuvenated. Energy rushed through my veins and I felt like I could lift the world. I snapped my eyes open as voices reached my ears and I sprang up from where I was.
"Whoa there girl, take it easy, we're not going to hurt you." I looked up and my heart stopped. Well it would've if it had been beating. I frowned and my hand reached up to grab my chest, where my heart should've been jumping erratically at this strangely handsome man. Another thing I noticed was that all my senses were sharper. I could hear, see, and literally taste all aspects of the room. The man noticed my reaction.
"There's something you need to know." I nodded but the movement seemed to fast.
"Your no longer human, Ashlynn." I jerked back surprised.
"Did you just call me Ashlynn?" Now it was the man's turn to look surprised.
"I just told you that your not a human, and you want to question what I call you?"
"Yeah, is that so surprising? I mean something’s up here, I just wake up with no memory in a room with two guys telling me I'm not human. Then he calls me something I know for sure is not my name, even though I don't even know what my name is, I just know that that’s not it. Oh, and the guy doing all this questioning is freaking gorgeous, who are you anyways? How do I know you? What am I doing here? Where is 'here'? If I'm not human than what am I? I want answers and I want them now." I finished, loving that I didn't need oxygen anymore which meant more talking time. The man in front of me smiled and it transformed his face.
"Glad to know that the change hasn't messed with your personality much, Ashlynn." I scowled at the name but hey, if I couldn't even remember what my name was I could go by anything,"First off, I am Prince Nikolai, but you always call me Nik. This meat head over there is Dixon, who you constantly call Dick. You are my soul-mate, which means that were destined to be together. This is where you and I live, our humble abode outside my castle. You always wanted a small cottage in the woods to run around free and hunt after the change. Your a vampire, Ash, like me." I took this in and was astonished that my brain kept up with his explanations and answers.
"Wow, you actually answered me. Aren’t kidnappers not supposed to explain anything to their hostage?" The man- Nik's face fell.
"I didn't kidnap you, love. I am your soul-mate, as you are mine. We met at a little cafe, in town. We dated for a year and I told you about who I was and our connection. You didn't freak out, you accepted it and asked me to change you so that we could be immortal soul-mates. Being me, I couldn't say no to you so I changed you, so here we are. Though why you don't remember this makes absolute no sense to me. Dixon, what do you think?" He turned to look at the man sitting in the corner who shook his head. Turning back to look at me he took measured steps and made sure I was okay with his approach. When I didn't run away or freak out he sat down next to me on the plush bed. Taking my hand I gasped as sparks ran though me. The smirk on his face but my guard up, I hate cocky guys.
"It could be from the attack." Dixon spoke up, and I felt Nik tense.
"Those bastards will pay when I get my hands on them." He swore.
"Wait, hold up. What attack?" Nik stroked my cheek.
"Always curious, my little one, he's referring to the attempt made on you and my life when rouges invaded the castle and drugged you."
"You said your life?"
"Any person trying to hurt you is personal. I simply wouldn't be able to live if you died."
"Huh, why does it seem that I've heard that line before?" I teased making him smile nervously.
"So you don't remember anything at all before your change?" He seemed to approach this topic carefully. I sighed and closed my eyes thinking back to the pain and flinched as it came back with a vengeance. Though when I tried to remember before that everything was blurry and fuzzy. Focusing on trying to clear the haze from my mind was giving me a headache so I opened my eyes to Nik's searching face.
"Nope! It's all as fuzzy as a peach! Now where can a girl get food around here?" I stood up looking around me. Taking in my surroundings I noticed that it was more like a flat than a house. It was an open floor plan and as I located the kitchen, my mouth watered at a delicious smell. Without thinking I threw open the fridge and grabbed the kool-aid. Drinking it in gulps I greedily drank until the content was all gone, and grabbed the next one. I kept this up until there were no more cups to drink. Hmm, I wonder why I was so thirsty?
"I haven't seen a vamp drink like that since your change Nik." Dixon's voice carried through the house and I looked down to see what I had just downed. I guess the realization that I was drinking blood should've freaked me out. Well, it did.
"HOLY FUDGE! IS THIS BLOOD?? OH MY COWS IM DRINKING BLOOD LIKE ITS KOOL-AID! I'VE HAVE OFFICIALLY DRINKIN' THE KOOL-AID!" I felt arms wrap around me and I struggled to get out.
"Shh, Ash, its okay. Drinking blood is natural for us."
"It is?"
"Mmhm. So don't freak out." Thinking it over, I took a couple of unneeded breaths and nodded. I mean it made sense, I was after all a vampire.
"I'm okay. So is that what we do? Drink out of little cups for eternity?"
"No, that was just for your first taste. Want to go hunting?" I turned to face him.
"What would we hunt?"
"Whatever you catch." I pondered that before flashing a wicked smile.
"Your on."
